On June 23, 1972, Title IX became law — just 37 words promising that no person would be shut out “on the basis of s*x.”
But this was never really about words on a page. It was about our little girls. Our daughters. Our granddaughters.
Those 37 words gave them the starting line. The scholarship. The team bus, the state title, the Olympic dream that began on a public-school field with a girl who refused to quit.
Generations of women fought for that promise. We’re not about to let it be taken from the little girls coming up behind us.
54 years later, the promise is the same — and worth every fight: fairness for our girls, on the basis of s*x.
