๐ŸŒฟ A New Month, A New Opportunity for Growth ๐ŸŒฟ
As we enter the month of Elul, we are reminded that every day offers an opportunity to become a better person.
Elul is traditionally a time to pause and ask ourselves important questions:

๐Ÿ’™ How have I treated the people around me?
๐Ÿ’™ Where can I show greater kindness and compassion?
๐Ÿ’™ What can I do to strengthen my family and community?
๐Ÿ’™ What kind of person do I want to become in the year ahead?

Jewish tradition teaches that our values are not simply words, we bring them to life through our actions and Jewish principles such as:

Chesed/Kindness: Looking out for others and offering help when it is needed.

Tzedakah/Giving and Justice: Sharing what we have and working toward a more caring and equitable community.

Kavod/Respect: Recognizing the dignity and worth of every person.

Achdut/Community and Togetherness: Understanding that we are stronger when we support one another.

Tikkun Olam/Repairing and Improving the World: Taking responsibility for making our community and our world a better place.

At Center Makor, we believe that Jewish values have the power to connect generations and inspire meaningful action. Through Jewish learning, community, culture, and shared experiences, we create opportunities for people to discover what these timeless values mean in their own lives.

As we enter the month of Elul, we are reminded that every day offers an opportunity to become a better person.

A Month to Pause
๐ŸŒ™ Elul has begun

In the Jewish calendar, Elul is the month before Rosh Hashanah - a time to pause, reflect, and think about the year ahead.

It invites us to ask simple but important questions:

What have I done well?
What could I have done differently?
Who have I helped?
Who might need my kindness?
What kind of person do I want to be in the year ahead?

Jewish tradition reminds us that change does not have to begin with a grand resolution. Sometimes it begins with one honest question - and one small action.

At LimmudBoston at Center Makor, we believe that Jewish learning can help us connect ancient traditions with the questions we face today.

Communal Security Initiative situation update

On Tuesday, July 14, around 9:30 AM, the man depicted in the photos knocked on the door and tried to gain entry to a small Chabad/synagogue in Brighton, MA. He asked if the building was a synagogue, if he could have a tour, and he asked inappropriate questions of a member of the congregation. The man is described as approximately six feet tall and 180 pounds. The video indicates he walked with a pronounced limp. As seen in the photos, he had a close-cropped, Mohawk-style haircut and stubbly beard (both of which can be changed).

Boston police are actively looking for this individual and have increased patrols in Brighton.
