Rose Hanlon, has an extraordinary legacy in Allston-Brighton as the director of the Jackson Mann Community Center, the first president of the Allston-Brighton Chamber of Commerce, and a former Executive Director of Brighton Main Streets, alongside her lifelong advocacy for kids, small businesses, and community traditions. Known for her tireless spirit once dubbed “Rosie the Riveter” by Mayor Tom Menino she continues to be a driving force for good in the neighborhood, and we are proud to celebrate her! 💖

SPARK Boston

The SPARK Boston Council is now accepting applications for the 2026-2027 year! SPARK Boston endeavors to serve Boston's communities. The Council provides opportunities for Bostonian young adults (ages 20-35) to represent their neighborhoods and work as advocates for their city. Council representatives increase connectivity amongst young adults in the city, whether it is through providing community-facing programming or helping shape policy through direct advocacy.

The application is open until June 30, and Boston residents ages 20-35 are eligible to apply.

Join us for an invigorating outdoor yoga class dedicated to cultivating core strength and enhancing workable flexibility. These sessions will focus on engaging and strengthening your abdominal muscles through a series of dynamic poses and mindful breathing exercises. As you flow through each movement, you'll work to improve your flexibility, enabling greater ease and grace reaching your personal fitness goals!

Kick It is a music-driven, kickboxing-inspired fitness method with 13 rounds. The class brings high intensity interval training with kickboxing, boxing, rhythmic components and a meditative cool down. All levels welcome! All you need is a yoga mat, sneakers, water, and yourself.

Join Librarian Allie from the Brighton Branch, Librarian Caroline from the Faneuil Branch, and (new!) Librarian Laura from the Honan-Allston Branch to celebrate the start of summer reading this afternoon! Come make a custom tie-dye creation and pick up everything you need for this year's summer reading program.

No registration required. Please note that this program takes place on the Brighton Common across the street from the Brighton Branch Library. Supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis while they last -- but we have a LOT of supplies.
