🐈‍⬛🎃 **HALLOWEEN SAFETY ALERT: PROTECT OUR BLACK CATS!** 🎃🐈‍⬛

Nimbus is still looking for his forever home

🖤 **Black cats are NOT bad luck! They are beautiful, loving animals who deserve to be safe and protected!** 🖤

With Halloween approaching, Angels Among Us Animal Rescue wants to remind everyone to take extra precautions to keep our feline friends safe, especially our precious black cats!

Unfortunately, black cats have long been associated with Halloween, superstition, and scary stories. While reports of widespread Halloween-related harm to black cats are not well-supported, it's always important to take precautions to protect ALL cats during this busy holiday.

🐾 **HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS:**

🐈‍⬛ **KEEP CATS INDOORS!** Halloween brings extra foot traffic, loud noises, and unfamiliar visitors. Even cats that normally enjoy being outside should be kept safely indoors.

🎃 **BE EXTRA CAREFUL WITH DOORS!** Trick-or-treaters coming and going can create opportunities for frightened pets to escape. Keep cats in a quiet, secure room away from the excitement.

🖤 **PROTECT BLACK CATS!** Never allow anyone to take or handle your cat as a Halloween prank or decoration. Black cats are living, breathing family members, NOT Halloween props!

🍬 **KEEP CANDY OUT OF REACH!** Chocolate and certain sugar-free candies can be toxic to cats and dogs.

🕯️ **WATCH THOSE DECORATIONS!** Candles, electrical cords, and dangling decorations can be dangerous to curious kitties.

🏷️ **MAKE SURE YOUR PET IS MICROCHIPPED!** Keep your contact information updated in case your pet accidentally escapes.

🖤 **PLEASE REMEMBER:** Black cats are not evil, unlucky, or something to fear. They are just as sweet, playful, affectionate, and deserving of loving homes as cats of every other color!

Sadly, black cats are sometimes overlooked in shelters and rescues simply because of their color. Let's change that!

🐈‍⬛ **This Halloween, let's celebrate black cats instead of fearing them!**

If you see an animal being mistreated, please speak up and report it to the proper authorities.

**BE KIND. BE RESPONSIBLE. KEEP THEM SAFE.** 🖤🐾

Meet Thunder!!!

Thunder is a one year old heeler mix who weighs 32 pounds. He was dumped at a vets office and we were asked to help. He landed in a wonderful foster home and he’s doing great!!

From his foster mom:

Thumper is a better name for Thunder!! There’s nothing stormy about him. He is so easy going & just a sweet, sweet little boy. He sleeps on his back often. Plays chase with Cady, his Bestie. They run like the wind. He hit a puddle of water, when I was washing kennels, & went down like going down a slippy slide. He doesn’t care too much for toys. Is not a chewer. Prefers to push his bed into a corner & sleep on the cool floor. Doesn’t soil his kennel. He is sensitive to a raised voice. The slightest opportunity to not trust you, and he is standing back...not coming when called, etc. I’ve learned lots about self-discipline with these animals. Noises are not rescue-animal approved. But, he is quite forgiving. Once trust is restored, he’s under my feet. Jumping on me. I’m working on the jumping. His vertical jump is over 6 feet. I have 6-ft panels & when he jumps, I can see his head over the top but he does not jump out of the fence...not even the 5-ft fence.

Thunder is neutered, HW negative, up to date on shots and ready to find his family!

Meet Tabitha!!!

Tabitha is an all white adorable little mixed breed girl, looks like she has some Shepherd in her mix. Cute big ears! She was born in mid May making her around 5 months old as of 10/5. She is around 18 pounds so we don't think she will be a large dog although we can't be sure.

About Her:
• Up-to-date on all age appropriate shots
• Spayed
• microchipped
HW Negative

From her foster:
Tabitha is friendly and affectionate. She is content to sit with you and soak up all the love you can give — all day if you let her! Crate trained and sleeps all night in her crate.

Tabitha is dog friendly. She loves toys, she's still a puppy so she will chew on cords if given the chance. No furniture. Just cords. Think lamp and/or laptop cord. LOL
She has such a calm sweet demeanor I'm sure she would be fine with cats. She would probably be scared of them.

Meet Rodan!

At just 6 months old, Rodan is already off to a great start! He is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, mostly kennel trained, and currently weighs 33 pounds.

Rodan has been living in a home with kittens, a toddler, and other dogs, and he has settled into family life remarkably well. After spending the beginning of his life surviving on the streets, he’s learning all about the routines and comforts of being a house dog. He’s still working on potty training and has a few survival habits to overcome, including scavenging and some food guarding, but he’s making steady progress with consistency, patience, and positive guidance.

Unlike his brother, Rodan is perfectly content wearing his collar and is happy to trot alongside you on his adventures. He’s the calmer of the two, with a more independent personality. While he enjoys affection and spending time with his people, he’s also perfectly happy entertaining himself, exploring the yard, or finding a quiet shady spot to relax.

One of Rodan’s favorite pastimes? Cooling off in the kiddie pool before stretching out for a well-earned nap!
