Hey guys ! Veteran's Day is around the corner again, which makes our 6th year to reach out for our Veterans in need . It's sad to think about how COVID , and mostly the asinine government decision affected our country's borders by allowing criminals &
Drug Lords to enter illegally. Our country has always welcomed people wanting to LEGALLY immigrate, but unfortunately, at that time , we had of government that showed no interest in helping our honored Veterans ,who sacrificed for our freedoms & protection. Instead of returning that action by insuring our Veterans had a home & proper medical & mental health care , they were pushed out, overlooked & dishonored even more, while cartels & other countries' most detested criminals , were allowed free housing, schooling , medical care , and food services. In January of 2024 , there were an estimated 33,000 homeless Veterans ,in a Single Night ! The approximate su***de rate of Veteran's was around 18 a day , under the Biden administration, making the 2022 count of 6,407 Veteran su***des in the US, for that year . (While an estimated 13.7 MILLION ILLEGAL immigrants were housed , fed, educated & had medical benefits by July 2023.)
To Any Patriotic Legal USA citizen, this is appalling & unacceptable.
Unfortunately, most shelters will not allow our homeless to bring their pet , which means there is no choice ~ there is no way they will leave their loyal companions , & possibly only possession , to be sheltered ,even for one night.
I've always had a soft spot for our soldiers , and the deep respect for our military. So when I began this charity Nov 4th 2019, (My papaw, a WW2 Navy man's birthday, & a week before Veteran's Day), I did so to honor & respect all of our military heroes, that have been forgotten, which I consider a travesty. Unfortunately, due to Covid , by Nov of 2020, the VA & DAV , were following safety guidelines ,so I could no longer just drop 15 backpacks off, to be distributed to those Veteran's in the system.
I had some incredible friends that were able to sponsor & assist , by donating supplies & their precious time, & I am so grateful to them.
And it's now coming up on the 6th year mark, when I like to remind everyone , that Midsouth Vets with Pets is still here. And although I don't keep a surplus of food & perishable items on hand, I am always available, & will do everything I can to help a Veteran , (or any local homeless /ones in need of assistance), to the best of my ability . So keep us in mind , if you know of one in need , especially as we moved toward winter. And if you pass a Veteran, be sure to Thank Them for their Service . NO VETERAN SHOULD BE HOMELESS IN THE USA. No American citizen should have been left living on the streets while non citizens are housed & fed. And just keep in mind, while we have a roof over our head, tap on overpriced phones, & have everything we need to keep us warm & fed ... Anything could change in a blink of an eye... To your family , home , health ,wealth...and to yourself . Before that Veteran you dismiss , shaking your head as you pass... They were once a young person with their entire life ahead....dreams for a bright future. They never dreamed their desire to protect our country would be repaid by being lost in the shuffle when they returned home. THERE SHOULD BE NO HOMELESS VETERAN . THERE SHOULD BE NO INSANE DAILY SU***DE RATE BECAUSE THEIR MENTAL HEALTH.OR MEDICAL CARE HAS BEEN NEGLECTED. AND THERE SHOULD BE NO ILLEGAL NON CITIZEN RECEIVING BENEFITS WHILE THERE IS ONE US VETERAN WITHOUT THEM.
WOW... I had no intention of getting on my soapbox today ! I merely intended to remind you, that Midsouth Homeless Vets with Pets, is still here for those in need , but most of all, for our Veterans (& their pets !) We also support and donate to the Tipton County Animal shelter & Tipton County Paws & Claws . So support your local Animal Shelter. (ASPCA IS A SCAM - but I'll leave that for another rant ! )
And to our Veterans ...Thank You for Your Service , and Thank You for my Freedom.
