FORESTRY CAMP + STATE RUNNER-UPs! 🪓🌲

What a week for Munford FFA!

Four of our members: Elliott, Stephen, Evan, and Logan, joined Mr. Newsom at the Tennessee FFA Forestry Camp, where they spent the week learning about forest management, tree identification, compass and pacing skills, wildlife habitat, forestry careers, leadership, and conservation of Tennessee’s natural resources.

From flag ceremonies and leadership activities to climbing trees, exploring streams, sharpening forestry skills, and building lifelong friendships, Forestry Camp provides students with a one-of-a-kind hands-on experience that connects agriculture, natural resources, and the outdoors.

The week concluded with the Tennessee FFA State Forestry Contest, where our team earned an incredible State Runner-Up finish! 🥈🌲

We are so proud of these young men for representing Munford FFA with professionalism, determination, and a willingness to learn.

A special shoutout to some outstanding individual performances:
🌲 Elliott Griffin earned perfect scores in Equipment Identification, Chainsaw Identification, and Tree Disorder Identification while posting the team’s highest overall score.
🌲 Stephen Jones and Logan Daugherty each earned a perfect score in Equipment Identification.
🌲 Evan Nance earned a perfect score in Chainsaw Identification.

Congratulations fellas on an outstanding week of growth, learning, and success. The future of Tennessee’s forests is in good hands! 🌳

Our students are making us proud! Shout out to Nathan and Libbie!
We know that youth being involved in leadership in Agriculture is key to success. Tipton Co. is well represented!

Today, we proudly dropped off five outstanding Tipton County students at the Tennessee Leadership Summit at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Sponsored by the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation and the UT Herbert College of Agriculture, this week-long program brings together student leaders from across Tennessee to develop leadership skills, explore career opportunities, and gain a deeper understanding of Tennessee agriculture.

What makes this even more special is that these students are among the founding members of the newly formed Tipton County Farm Bureau Student Committee. Just weeks after organizing our committee, these young leaders are already representing Tipton County on a statewide stage.

Throughout the week, they will participate in leadership workshops, team-building activities, agricultural and natural resources exploration, sustainability challenges, policy discussions, career development sessions, and industry experiences designed to prepare the next generation of agricultural leaders.
We are incredibly proud of these students for stepping outside their comfort zones, investing in their future, and representing Tipton County Agriculture with excellence.

Please join us in wishing Nathan Greuling, Libbie Lawhon, Emma Hughey, Zykeia Harwell and Whitten Matthews a fantastic week as they learn, grow, and bring new ideas back home to our community!

🐑💚 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊 𝟏 𝐎𝐅 𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄 𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐁 𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐏 𝐈𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐒! 💚🐑

Despite battling rain showers throughout the week, we still managed to have an incredible time celebrating the 𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐅𝐅𝐀 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐛 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩!

This week we welcomed:

🐑 𝟏𝟎𝟒 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬
🌟 𝟓𝟒 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬 (including 𝟏𝟔 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬)
🙌 𝟖 𝐀𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬

For four days, campers were immersed in agriculture as they cared for their own lambs, learned about feeding and watering, sheep anatomy, shearing, animal health, and showing sheep. They made crafts, played games, sang songs, enjoyed snacks and meals together, took pictures with their lambs, and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Little Lamb Camp has always been about more than sheep. It is an opportunity for young people to learn responsibility, build confidence, make new friends, and develop an appreciation for agriculture through hands-on experiences.

Unfortunately, the weather won the battle on the final day. For only the 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟔 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬, we were forced to cancel the Little Lamb Camp Lamb Show due to rain. While we were disappointed that our campers didn't get the opportunity to exhibit their lambs in the show ring, we were still able to celebrate their accomplishments during an Awards Program in the Farm Fresh Center.

Following the awards ceremony, campers proudly took their parents and grandparents to the barn to introduce them to the lambs they had cared for all week. Watching campers share what they learned and show off "their" lamb was a reminder of what Little Lamb Camp is all about.

A huge thank you goes to our FFA members, Junior Counselors, adult volunteers, parents, and supporters who make this camp possible year after year. Your dedication allows us to provide a one-of-a-kind experience for hundreds of children each summer.

💚🐑 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟏 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐞 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫, 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐛 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐞𝐭! 🐑💚

We are already preparing to welcome another 𝟏𝟎𝟒 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬 as we kick off 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟐 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫. The barns are ready, the lambs are waiting, and we can't wait to create another week of learning, leadership, agriculture, and fun for the next group of young agriculturalists.

As another school year comes to a close, we can’t help but reflect on all that our FFA members accomplished this year and the moments we had to celebrate them!

Over the last several weeks, we gathered to recognize the hard work, growth, leadership, and dedication of our members through our FFA Banquet and Degree Ceremony. From Career & Leadership Development Event teams, student pins, retiring officers, Degree recipients, Most Improved and Most Involved recognitions, and welcoming a new officer team… to celebrating Greenhand and Chapter Degree recipients, Chapter Star Awards, livestock exhibitors, and recognizing this past year’s FFA Camp recipient- these moments remind us what FFA is truly about.

FFA is more than contests, awards, and banners. It is growth, leadership, friendships, service, hard work, and finding confidence in yourself while being part of something bigger.

To our students, thank you for representing Munford FFA with pride and for making this year one to remember.
To our parents, alumni, supporters, school administration, and community, thank you for believing in agricultural education and supporting the opportunities that make these moments possible.

As we close one chapter of the year, we are excited for what is ahead. The future is bright for Munford FFA. 💙💛

As the school year begins to wind down, we take time to reflect on the hard work, growth, and successes of the year.
Attending the 76th West Tennessee Regional FFA Banquet in Jackson, TN gave us the opportunity to do just that! This banquet serves as a reminder that excellence is built one contest, one project, one experience, and one student at a time.

Throughout the evening, students were recognized for accomplishments in proficiency awards, Agriscience Fair, Career & Leadership Development Events (CDEs/LDEs), livestock exhibition points, and so much more, all representing the countless hours of preparation, dedication, and passion our members poured into this school year.

Our chapter accomplishments recognized at the regional level included:

🏆 11 Regional Proficiency Winners
🔬 9 Regional Agriscience Fair Winners
⭐ 9 Regional Winning CDE/LDE Teams or Individual
👏Several Regional Runner-Up Proficiencies, Agriscience Fair projects, and CDE/LDE accomplishments, along with countless additional placings and recognitions throughout the year

One of the highest honors of the evening was the Overall Chapter Award, determined through three major divisions that reflect the strength of a chapter as a whole:
⭐ Instructional Division – 🥇 1st Place Overall Focused on classroom excellence and agricultural education programming
⭐ SAE Division – 🥈 2nd Place Overall
Highlighting students’ Supervised Agricultural Experiences, entrepreneurship, and work-based learning
⭐ Leadership Division – 🏅 4th Place Overall Recognizing FFA involvement, chapter activities, leadership, and member development

⭐️🏆 When all three divisions were combined, Munford FFA was named the West Tennessee Regional Runner-Up Chapter! 🏆⭐🎉

We were also proud to celebrate two of our own advisors who were recognized by the Tennessee Association of Agricultural Educators for their outstanding contributions to agricultural education:
