A shelter is no place for bonded senior cats

These sweet, gentle 11 year olds came to us in April when their owner was faced with declining health. A devastating decision, but one made in the best interest of Luke and Lucy.

Luke and Lucy (white feet) have twice gone to a foster home only to be returned to the shelter. Home changes can be very hard on a cat and Luke in particular has struggled with the loss of his person and home. Adding to his trauma, the first foster home cruelly tossed him outside. He’d spent his entire life indoors with his sister and their person…so much loss for this poor boy.

Luke and Lucy need a true forever home.
A quiet, stable home with a little patience and a lot of love.
A home that will allow Luke the time and space to decompress and feel safe.

One of our cat volunteers has known Luke and Lucy since they were kittens and can attest to them both being gentle, loving souls.

If you’re interested in possibly adopting Luke and Lucy, please come meet them and discuss next steps with a staff member.

If you can’t adopt, and their story touches your heart, please share this post to help them find a perfect new, FOREVER home.

Update: Stormy was adopted. Washy is still waiting.

Today’s report from our free roam cat room, featuring the fabulous Stormy and Washy 😻

Stormy and Washy are both about 1.5 yrs old, friendly with people and other cats and have the most beautiful coats!

Each cat has gorgeous black swirls and stripes on their head, back and sides. Whenever I visit, they’re both eager to get some pets and be near me.🥰

Stormy (female) is super cuddly. Like SUPER cuddly. She will confidently seek your shoulder, lap, neck…whatever she can get to to snuggle in and purr. If she is near your face, you may end up with a facial (kitty kisses)! She doesn’t stay long and repeatedly hopped off me for a snack only to return like I was the new cat tree in the room! She’s ok around other cats although doesn’t seem to interact with the other cats in the room right now. She enjoys watching out the window and some time with a wand toy. She’s our “Walmart Greeter” here and may come right to you as you enter the room.

Washy (male) is a very playful and friendly chap who enjoys pets, lounging around looking handsome, and sitting next to you on the bench. In a forever home, Washy would probably be happiest with another cat that will actively play with him (the female cats in the room sorta roll their eyes at him) and a human who will play with wand toys. Washy can be chompy - he means no harm, he either wants (or needs!) to play or is feeling rambunctious- so a home with older kids and adults would be best.

Interested in possibly adopting one of these amazing cats? Come by the shelter to meet them. Staff will gladly talk you through the adoption process.

Friday’s Forgotten Feline is Buggy!

In a shelter with many striped tabbies, this spectacular girl is nearly invisible. It’s time someone took note of this incredible little lady!

Buggy is a favorite among our kitty caretakers! She has a sweet and friendly disposition, loves being loved on and quickly returns your attention with a grateful look from her beautiful green eyes, lots of cheek rubs and the most incredible purr!!

Buggy is eight years old and has been waiting nearly 8 months for a new home. She’s a terrific little girl who will make a great companion. We think she would be good with respectful kids, and with slow introduction, she may be ok with another friendly cat in the home.

If you’re interested in meeting Buggy or any of our wonderful kitties, please come by the shelter. We’re open every day noon to 3:30 PM.

(Volume up to hear her amazing purr!)
