A Master Class on stage direction is not something you get to attend that often. And especially when the Master Class is conducted by Suman Mukhopadhyay, you get to experience a deep insight into the process of transforming a text from script form to stage. The masterclass was attended by 18 theater enthusiasts who listened intently for 6 hours to the maestro share his experience with slides, videos, and hands-on exercises. It was an unforgettable learning experience that enriched us all. Thank you Suman for your generous contribution to our theater community.

Step Into the Director’s Chair — For 6 Hours With Suman Mukhopadhyay

ECTA is bringing you a rare, hands-on masterclass with internationally acclaimed director Suman Mukhopadhyay — a chance for stage directors, aspiring directors, and serious actors to see how a script becomes living theatre.

What you’ll get in 6 hours:

From page to stage, unfiltered. Watch how Suman breaks down a script, builds the world, and makes choices that move an audience.
Real solutions to real problems. Blocking nightmares, actor roadblocks, pacing, design clashes — learn how a veteran director solves them mid-process.
A director’s eye for actors. Actors, discover exactly how a director envisions your character and what they need from you in the room.
This isn’t theory. It’s decades of stage and film experience, shared directly, with the curtain pulled back. If you make theatre, this is 6 hours that will change how you do it.
