CONGRATULATIONS, VAN NGO, LVSC'S OCTOBER 2026 TUTOR OF THE MONTH!

Van knows what it’s like to be an ESL student, because she was once one herself when she first came to the U.S. Van (left) has been working with Sook (right), from Malaysia, for two years. Van’s greatest strengths as a tutor are her patience, flexibility, adaptability and ability to listen. She is proud of the hard work and determination that Sook has been putting in since they’ve been meeting and the noticeable improvement in her English writing skills.

Says Van, "I wouldn’t be here today without my ESL teachers and friends who not only helped me overcome the language barrier but also the culture shock. Becoming an LVSC volunteer ESL tutor is one of the most meaningful and fulfilling things I’ve done in my life."

CONGRATULATIONS, to our SEPTEMBER TUTOR OF THE MONTH -- ROB GIURLANDO!

Rob joined LVSC in 2020 and has tutored numerous students since then and helped several pass the U.S. citizenship test. He’s currently working with a student from Costa Rica. Rob works diligently to assess exactly what his students want to learn and doesn’t just assume he knows what they want to learn. He is especially proud of his students’ commitment to learning English.
