The WorkPlace operates a number of programs that prepare workers for new and challenging careers. Through individual development plans and customized job training we prepare program participants, and address the workforce challenges employers face. The WorkPlace leverages more than 1,442 programs of study offered by 70 eligible training providers. The WorkPlace acts as a convenor, a catalyst, a co
llaborator, and an advocate for workforce development throughout southwestern Connecticut and beyond. Increasingly, the focus is shifting to “lifelong learning” and to working with employers to train their employees. Customized job training services and incentives are available for specific high-growth sectors and for improving the skills and opportunities of low-wage workers. The total cost of the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is $13,151,948. $11,836,754 (90%) is funded through a U.S. Department of Labor grant. The other $1,315,194 (10%) is funded through non-federal resources.
