What a difference a day makes.

Earlier this summer, the Fairfield Knights of Columbus reached out with a desire to make a meaningful impact for the families staying at Alpha Community Services YMCA's Brook Street Family Shelter. Their vision became reality as volunteers came together to build a new playground for the children who call Brook Street home.

For families experiencing homelessness, safe places to play, laugh, and simply be a child can make all the difference. This playground is more than a structure. It's a place where children can create happy memories, families can spend time together, and moments of joy can flourish during challenging times.

We are deeply grateful to the Fairfield Knights of Columbus for their generosity, hands-on service, and commitment to supporting our mission. Together, we're creating spaces where families can heal, grow, and build brighter futures.

Help us give a pair to spare!

Throughout August, Alpha Community Services YMCA is collecting new and gently used clothing to support individuals and families navigating homelessness in our community. Something as simple as clean, comfortable clothing can provide dignity, confidence, and a fresh start.

We’re especially in need of pants, new socks, new underwear, T-shirts, fall outerwear, and hygiene supplies. Together, we can make sure our neighbors have the essentials they need.

Sharing a few moments from Saturday’s activity at Brooks Street Shelter, part of Alpha Community Services YMCA! We were excited to welcome Best Moves Fitness Studios, who brought gifts for parents, provided lunch, and led a relaxing yoga session focused on encouraging healthy habits and wellness for the whole family. Thank you for supporting our community and helping create such a positive and uplifting experience!
