Highlights from the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Membership

On Wednesday, May 13, the Bridgeport Downtown Special Services District (DSSD) held its 2026 Annual Meeting at Ursa Roastery & Gallery (245 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport). With nearly 50 people in attendance, property owners, business owners, nonprofits, residents, and neighbors came together to build community. Attendees enjoyed refreshments courtesy of Ursa while Bridgeport Police Chief Roderick Porter gave an update on Downtown safety and Niels Heilmann shared exciting news about the Post Hotel development project.

Chair of the DSSD Board of Commissioners, Philip Pires of Cohen & Wolf, led the group through the meeting agenda, including the election of Commissioners to the Board (results are below). Board Treasurer Eric Gross of Green & Gross presented the fiscal year 2025 audited financial statement, fiscal year 2026 financial report, and the fiscal year 2027 budget for approval (starting July 1, 2026). DSSD President + CEO Lauren Coakley Vincent made remarks about the 2025-2026 annual report and past year successes (accessible here and below).

The DSSD also took time to recognize the Downtown Ambassadors and its many dedicated volunteers, who represent the best of our efforts to keep Downtown Bridgeport clean, safe, and colorful. We spent a few moments thanking Phil Kuchma, a founding member of the Bridgeport DSSD, for his many years of service as he transitions off of the board.

The many members of our community who showed up made the meeting a resounding success. We are looking forward to another great year here in Downtown Bridgeport. See you around the neighborhood!
