Mi Gente !!!!
The Bridgeport Police Hispanic Society Inc. was honored to participate in Career Day: “Unidos Somos Más — Together We Are More,” hosted by Cesar A. Batalla Elementary School and its Hispanic Heritage Committee on October 26, 2026.
Days like today remind us that our work extends far beyond the badge. It is about building relationships, opening doors, inspiring young minds, and showing our children that their dreams have no limits. Sometimes, a simple conversation, a demonstration of police equipment, or a few words of encouragement can leave a lasting impression on a young person who is still discovering who they want to become.We were proud to share our experiences, demonstrate our equipment, explain our daily responsibilities, and visit classrooms to speak directly with students about the many ways we serve our community. Most importantly, we had the opportunity to show these young scholars the diversity within the Bridgeport Police Department and highlight the Hispanic and Latino officers who proudly represent their heritage while serving and protecting the city we call home.
For us, representation matters. When children see people who share their backgrounds, cultures, and experiences serving in positions of leadership and responsibility, they begin to recognize that those opportunities are within their reach, too. We hope that today’s interactions planted seeds of confidence, curiosity, and inspiration that will continue to grow long after Career Day has ended.
We were also proud to be joined by AMR and the Bridgeport Bomberos of Engine 3, Bridgeport Fire Department, whose participation helped demonstrate the importance of teamwork, public service, and the many career paths available to those who want to make a difference in their communities. Together, we showed our students that while our uniforms and responsibilities may differ, our commitment to helping others remains the same.
A special and heartfelt thank-you to our very own Board of Trustee Member and educator, Nicole Cotto, for inviting the Bridgeport Police Hispanic Society Inc. to be part of such a meaningful experience. Thank you for recognizing the value of bringing community role models into the classroom and for providing us with the opportunity to connect with these incredible students. Your invitation allowed us to do what we strive to do every day: serve as a bridge between our community and the Bridgeport Police Department.
We would also like to recognize and sincerely thank the members of our organization who took time out of their busy schedules to invest in the next generation: BPDHS Secretary Ofc. T. Your willingness to show up, share your knowledge, answer questions, demonstrate our equipment, and speak directly with students reflects the heart of our organization. Your presence reminds us that service is not limited to responding to calls or wearing a uniform. Sometimes, our greatest impact comes from simply being present, sharing our stories, and helping a child believe in what is possible.
To the students of Cesar A. Batalla Elementary School, we hope you remember that your background is your strength, your culture is something to be proud of, and your future is full of possibilities. Whether you choose a career in law enforcement, emergency medical services, firefighting, education, or another field entirely, never underestimate the difference you can make when you lead with integrity, compassion, and a willingness to serve others
