Mi Gente !!!!!!

Please help us in Congratulating one of our own, Det. A. Llanos on being accepted to become a new member amongst 11 other Military Veterans at earlier today !

Port 5 in Bridgeport, CT—located at the foot of Brewster Street in Black Rock Harbor—is historically significant as the last and only remaining active chapter of the National Association of Naval Veterans in the United States, dating back to 1887. Established in its current form on March 3, 1933, this site serves as a vital veterans’ organization that supports, honors, and unites former military members in a historic harbor setting. Port 5 is the sole survivor among 41 original chapters of the National Association of Naval Veterans. Since 1949, the club has been located at the former Soundview Yacht Club in Black Rock Harbor, a spot with maritime roots dating back to the 18th century. It functions as a gathering place for over 1,400 members, hosting veterans from various branches, offering support, and hosting community events like the Tunnels to Towers 5K. The organization operates under this motto .”Don’t Give Up The Ship” and is a hub for military memorabilia having its own Museum and veterans’ advocacy in the area. It hosts the Marine Corps Band and acts as a center for maritime history in the Black Rock community of Bridgeport Connecticut.

Congratulations & thank you for your service Llanos ! 🎊🪖🎖️⚓️

Mi Gente !!!!!!!

Help us celebrate 41 years of Unity, Community and Cultural Achievement !!!!

None of this would be possible without the idea, representation and support from our (2) founding fathers Officers Cruz “Manny” Cotto & Juan Quintana - but not to disregard the many Officers who’ve followed & fought for our voice to be heard within the Department and the Communities we’ve had the distinct pleasure of serving.

As the years pass, we pay homage to those who have paved the way for this great Organization, those who’ve gave it their all, those who’ve contributed to multi-generational service within our ranks and those who’ve passed - may their legacy live on forever.

Each year gets tougher, harder & uncertain at times but our core mission keeps us going and sheds light for our future generations and new Officers to come.

We are committed to our Cultural roots and our service to the great city of Bridgeport Connecticut, a place many of us call HOME.

Mi Gente ! This one is for you & many more to come !

THANK YOU 🤍🚔🎉🎂🥳🎈🎊🎁

Mi Gente ,

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of on of our own. Ret. Ofc. Luis R. Batista, age 75, beloved father, brother, and friend died peacefully on May 22, 2026 after a four year battle with Dementia. Born in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico on September 13, 1950 - May 22, 2026, he was the son of the late Luis Batista and Ramona Ortiz. Luis was raised in Bridgeport, CT and graduated from Bassick High School (class of 1969). He then served in the U.S. Army in Germany and was a decorated Army Veteran. He continued his mission to protect and serve, working as a correction officer and becoming a licensed electrician installing security systems for Sonitrol. He was appointed to the Bridgeport Police Department on July 20, 1983 and proudly served in the capacity of patrol, detective and on the Tactical Narcotics Team until his retirement in April of 2011. Luis was a member of the Bridgeport Old Timers and loved to get together with friends. He will be remembered for his generosity, love of music, sense of humor and sarcasm. He was stubborn, oh so stubborn, it was his way or the highway and this held true until his last breath. He is survived by his siblings, his children, grandchildren, and many loved ones. A sincere thank you to the staff at Bridges in Trumbull and Stone Bridge Center in Newtown for the care provided to Luis these past three years. The bonds this extraordinary group of staff built with him and our family is appreciated and will go on from here. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 275 Union Avenue, Bridgeport.

⚠️Services: Family is welcoming as many officers to attend as possible as being a Bridgeport Police Officer was a huge part of his life. ⚠️

Job well done Louie, you will be missed dearly.

Mi Gente !!!

Today we had the distinct honor and privilege to stop by in lieu of our Memorial Day Patch Fundraiser.

While on site, President George Vivo Jr. , Vice President Roxana Edwards and Secretary Tamara Garcia presented a check of $1,000.00 to CEO Vincent Santilli for the Organization and their efforts. Members of the E-Board were also given a in depth and detail tour of the newly renovated facility !

These funds were garnered over this past month by individuals who purchased a $20.00 unique collectors patch honoring those who’ve served our great nation and paid the ultimate sacrifice.

None of this would’ve been possible without you all ! From our community to yours, thank you for your service. We are looking forward to continuing collaboration efforts for future events and the road ahead.

Thank you 🇺🇸🪖
