Last week, federal agents tore through communities across Connecticut, detaining dozens of our neighbors and leaving families searching for their loved ones. But our communities are responding with courage, care, and collective action.

THAT’S A WRAP ON OUR 2026 SUMMER POWER BUILDING PROJECT!
For six weeks, young people came together to organize, learn, build community, and take action.

This summer, we worked with 30 young people across New Haven and Danbury, with another 10 young people and 15 supporters joining us along the way.

Together, we:
-Organized 8 canvassing opportunities
-Reached 300+ community members
-Learned alongside CT For All & HUSKY 4 Immigrants
-Visited Western Connecticut State University

The summer may be over, but the organizing continues!

From August 24–27, rapid-response groups reported at least 94 immigration-related detentions across Connecticut. Families and children are being harmed.

For the past year and a half, C4D has worked to build the statewide infrastructure needed to respond. Today, alongside TAILC and rapid-response partners, we are supporting families and connecting detained community members with urgent legal assistance.

Last week, increased immigration enforcement across Connecticut brought fear and pain to our communities. At a time when immigrants are being made to feel “less than,” we hold on to what we know: our worth, dignity, and value cannot be taken away.

Food connects us to our culture, our memories, and our movement. In Food, Memories & Movement, C4D co-founder and Board Chair Carolina and member leader José share a meal while reflecting on 16 years of victories and immigrant youth organizing.

Their conversation reminds us why we organize: to build power and a future where immigrant families can thrive. As we prepare to recognize 16 years of immigrant youth organizing, we recommit ourselves to each other and to the work ahead.

"ICE activity in Danbury has escalated at an alarming rate, with dozens of community members detained in just a few days.

“Over the last year, there have been mostly targeted arrests,” Tabitha Sookdeo, Executive Director of Connecticut Students for a Dream, told the Connecticut Mirror. “Yesterday was out of trend with anything observed.”

Activists in Danbury shouted at CT officials Wednesday as emotions ran high over dozens of arrests by ICE in the city each day this week.

"Our communities are under active ICE attacks. In just three days, community groups documented at least 53 people detained in Danbury, some in front of their children at school bus stops. Rapid-response volunteers have reported being pushed, pepper-sprayed, and struck by ICE vehicles while documenting arrests. We stand with Danbury’s immigrant community and the rapid-response volunteers working around the clock.

The fear and anger across Danbury is real, and so is the urgent demand for elected officials to protect immigrant families and enforce the Connecticut Trust Act.
