So glad that we could create some work-based learning opportunities for students! We're looking forward to the next school year and all that we'll accomplish together!

At the Career & Technical Education Center at PNW BOCES, 180 students benefited from career-oriented internships this year. Work-Based-Learning Coordinators Mary Cuomo and Christine Belcher paired students with the perfect environments for them to both learn new skills and demonstrate their own expertise. CTE Director Dr. Andrew Ecker praised the students, partners, and work-based-learning coordinators Christine Belcher, left, and Mary Cuomo, right, along with partners like Kathryn LaCombe, center, of Second Chance Foods, at the June 18th CTE Partnership breakfast on our campus.

Our kitchen has already made over 90,000 meals this year! We’re glad to be able to use more produce from local farms and farmer’s markets as the growing season ramps up, allowing these fresh crops to nourish the community in which they were grown.

We’re thrilled to announce that earlier this week the incredible members of Impact100 Westchester selected Second Chance Foods as a Transformational Grant Winner! With this $85,000 grant, we’ll expand our reach, add new access points, freezers, and staff, and nourish over 31,000 of our Westchester neighbors.

But that is just the start! This grant will strengthen our capacity far beyond the amount of funding it provides, thanks to your ongoing support. Thank you to Impact100 and everyone who has joined us along the way as volunteers, donors, and advocates; we wouldn’t be here without you!

Take a look at our new Wednesday distribution setup at Lakeview Community Church in Carmel! This approach gives recipients the opportunity to choose the items that best meet their needs and preferences. Yesterday’s selection included strawberries gleaned from Hilltop Hanover Farm & Environmental Center, prepared meals made in our kitchen and DeCicco & Sons Brewster, and a variety of produce and pantry staples provided by Ace Endico and Trader Joe's. We’re grateful to our partners for helping us offer fresh, nutritious food to our community!

Last week the kitchen prepared a variety of dishes, from hearty vegetable beef soup, to colorful chicken fajitas, and refreshing green salad. Meals on last Thursday's cook day, like the baked tuna cakes and chickpea tomato soup, were planned and executed by Beth, our newest Assistant Culinary Manager!
