Brewster Sports Supporters –
Although the Brewster Sports Foundation (BSF) did not have a 2018 fund-raising event this past January, we are still actively meeting with the district and working together to complete the much needed renovations, restorations, and improvements to the baseball, softball, and other athletic fields on the Brewster campus. We are advocating for the safety improvement efforts for all Brewster sports facilities. If your children play sports in Brewster, they benefit from the efforts of the BSF.
At this time, the current Brewster school budget that is up for an approval vote on the 19th of June does not have a negative impact for athletics.
However, if the budget does not pass, a contingent budget would definitely negatively impact our athletic programs, and possibly the maintenance or condition of the playing fields.
As a supporter of athletics and as proven recently by the success of the girls varsity lacrosse team, sports offers an opportunity for school pride, community bonding, and celebration. We also believe athletics strengthens character in our youth, developing skills for life, such as team work, cooperation, work ethic, goal setting, perseverance, as well as coping with adversity. This is what drives our continued passion for advocating for the sports facilities and vigilantly working with the district to manage the projects.
Please consider supporting the budget and voting on Tuesday. The polls are open from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Brewster High School. We will continue to advocate for our community through improvements to athletic facilities.
