Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations are part of a national effort to recognize and honor the existence, culture, and contributions of the original inhabitants of North America on the day formerly observed as Columbus Day since 1934.

CU Boulder students, staff, faculty and members of the Boulder community are invited to participate in a community celebration and observance of Indigenous Peoples Day through campus programs on October 12 through 14, 2026.

This year’s theme, "Still Here: Refusal, Remembrance, and the Future Beyond 150," critically reflects on 150 years of CU Boulder within the longer arc of Indigenous presence, perseverance, and survival. It centers enduring legacies of Indigenous being and refusal – the refusal to disappear, to assimilate, to be misnamed, or erased. It creates space to simultaneously mark institutional history and affirm Indigenous continuance in body, tradition, art, scholarship, and activism.

Tickets for the Boulder Jewish Film Festival are officially on sale - and they go fast! Join us from October 25 - November 1 at the Dairy Arts Center.

The theme that runs through all our films this year is courage, and not just physical courage but moral courage. The courage to fight for your beliefs. The courage to protect your loved ones. The courage to take risks – artistic, political and personal risks. The real people and the fictional characters in our films are all heroes of one kind or another.

- Tickets can be purchased online at thedairy.org, by phone at 303-444-7328, or in person at the box office at 2590 Walnut Street.
- Tickets often sell out quickly. If a film is sold out, call the box office to be placed on the waitlist, or arrive 30 minutes before showtime to join our stand-by seating list.

Today marks the tragic anniversary of the October 7 attacks in Israel, when 1,200 people were murdered by Hamas and 251 hostages, ranging from infants to the elderly, were torn from their families. Today, we remember them.

The trauma of that horrific day continues to ripple across the world and deeply impact our own community. Here in Boulder, that grief is compounded by local pain, particularly in the wake of severe antisemitic incidents, from the June 1 Pearl Street attack to recent incidents in our schools and harassment outside of City Council meetings. We recognize the profound grief, fear, and anxiety so many in our community are carrying.

Whatever you are feeling today, sadness, anger, fear, or quiet reflection, please know you are not alone, even if we do not all share the same perspectives. While there are times for complex debate, today is a moment to pause: to mourn, to support one another, and to honor the 1,200 murdered on October 7, the 251 hostages, and every innocent civilian life lost since. May their memories inspire peace, empathy, and unity.

Mah Jongg is for everyone! We are offering a teen mah jongg workshop on October 12 and 13. Does your teen already know how to play? Mah Jongg Open Play for all ages is offered every Monday from 4:30-6 pm.

More people around the U.S. are picking up the centuries-old tile game Mahjong and uncovering new community connections in the process.
