Founded August 2008. At the School Food Project, we believe that for kids to learn, think and be the best they can be, they have to eat well. Because of this, we are dedicated to improving the health of each student by providing healthy food and offering nutrition education programs to grow young bodies and minds. Our Food

We serve fresh and nutritious food every day. This amounts to over 12,000

scratch-cooked meals each day! We use locally sourced and organic ingredients whenever possible, and we avoid highly processed foods, high fructose corn syrup, chemicals, dyes and food additives. Salad Bars are offered daily at every school and are stocked with fresh, delicious and when possible, local farm fresh produce. Our Programs

Our interactive food and nutrition education programs make eating healthy food fun for students of all ages. Through our programs, BVSD kids learn where food comes from, what fresh food tastes like, and even how to grow and cook their own food. Sustainability

We are continuously improving our sustainability efforts through innovative and award winning solutions, such as reusable bins for local deliveries, recycling beef cooking oil for biofuel for local farm tractors and composting vegetable scraps to feed locally farmed pigs.

We had some very special guests at our recent school tastings — the Junior Iron Chef competitors who inspired two exciting new recipes!

At Aspen Creek, we debuted a Chicken Parm Sandwich inspired by team Cooking Monsters!, while students at Platt and Centennial got to try the award-winning Chicken Shawarma Wrap created by team E&M.

Thanks to these talented student chefs, both dishes will officially be added to next year’s menu!👩‍🍳👨‍🍳🍅🔥🍳

Yesterday was a reminder of why we have the adage: Don't plant in Colorado until after Mother's Day. And good news--we have plants for you to buy this weekend so you can plant after Sunday! The Boulder Valley School District plant sale is TOMORROW and Saturday at the BVSD Greenhouse. Don't miss it! 🌿🌺🍅💚
