Thank you to Outside Summit for convening outdoor industry business leaders this past week in Denver! 🌎 GetOutside

On Friday, we were proud to co-host a Lunch & Learn Workshop centered around Protecting Colorado's Land and Water - From the Ballot to Reality. Carlos Fernandez, Colorado State Director for The Nature Conservancy, joined Jim Petterson, Tarn Udall and Alan Salazar to discuss threats to Colorado's outdoor economy, wildlife and communities, and how Proposed Initiative 308 offers a solution without raising taxes.

In this working session, we dug deep into the mechanics of the measure, how it could benefit Colorado’s outdoors, what it takes to get it across the finish line in November 2026, and how your voice and network can make all the difference. Thank you to all who attended and participated in this important workshop!

Did you know over 3 billion people depend on fisheries for their livelihoods? 🐟 And 1/3 of global fisheries are overfished?

Saturday morning at Mountainfilm began with a fantastic Coffee Chat: Seas of Change 💭 This panel was filled with inspiring voices - filmmakers, deep sea divers, conservation directions, lawyers, and surfers - all connected through their passion: protecting our oceans. 🌊

Thank you to all speakers, Sara Mascola, Deputy Director of Oceans, Land and Water at The Nature Conservancy (shown speaking in this video), , Gabriela Gomez, Terry Kennedy, and , for igniting the audience to fight for what they care about!

Off to a strong start at Mountainfilm! 🌎 🎬

Thank you to the Telluride Science and Innovation Center and Taunya van der Steen-Mizel for a great conversation about The Nature Conservancy’s work to tackle climate change from local to global scales and the critical role women leaders play.

TNC’s Director of Global Climate Programs, Dr. Becca Benner, shared how our Women & Allies in Climate Network amplifies climate action by recognizing and resourcing women’s leadership. To date, we have 250+ leaders in the network leading climate solutions globally, and TNC aims to launch an annual Innovation Lab to expand the network’s power and impact.

Today, we're proud to celebrate Colorado Public Lands Day!

Public lands are vital to America's people, wildlife, communities, economies, outdoor recreation and so much more. Here in Colorado, our public lands provide space for families to recreate, wildlife to migrate, and local economies to flourish.

But threats to our country’s public lands are growing. Over the past year, there have been proposals to sell off millions of acres for non-conservation uses, including mining, drilling and development. If our public lands—like national parks, national forests and wildlife refuges—are sold and developed, iconic landscapes could be destroyed and public access would disappear.

Join us in speaking up - let's keep public lands in public hands! 📢 Send your message to Congress now and tell your elected leaders that you oppose selling off federally owned public conservation lands for non-conservation uses (it only takes one minute!): https://preserve.nature.org/page/171039/action/1?en_txn1=s_fbo.reg_wescan.x.x

In 2022, TNC acquired Bartlett Mesa Ranch as part of a broader vision developed with the State of New Mexico and the City of Raton to create regional connectivity for hikers, wildlife watchers, and other outdoor enthusiasts—while supporting sustainable economic opportunities for nearby communities. 🥾 🌲

That vision expanded with the acquisition of Buck Ridge Ranch. Together, these two properties will help establish a large, contiguous block of publicly accessible conserved land spanning northeast New Mexico and southeast Colorado. The project also protects crucial habitat for native wildlife and an important portion of the City of Raton’s watershed. This work is part of TNC’s Southern High Plains Initiative, which aims to conserve grasslands across Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
