The Colorado Business Unit was honored to host The Nature Conservancy's Global Board and Trustee Council meetings in Boulder last week!

It was an energizing and productive few days, bringing together leaders from across our organization for strategic global planning sessions to informal coffee chats with Jennifer Morris, Jan Glendening, Mike Stevens and Carlos Fernandez. 💡 We even made time to experience the beauty of Colorado with hikes in the Flatirons and a trip to our Phantom Canyon Preserve.

Staff and trustees alike are united in their commitment and inspired by the collective impact of our work as we advance TNC’s 2030 goals. 🌎

Thank you to our Global Board, Trustee Council, and Executive Leadership Team for your partnership, perspective, and passion. TNC is fortunate to have such a dedicated and visionary global community guiding our work.

In this new immersive short film by The Nature Conservancy, spend time with Kat the manatee and her guardians, Belizean conservationists Jaimelee Cruz and Jamal Galves. 🌊 Narrated by Meryl Streep, “Ocean Keepers”, this short film dives into the pressures our marine habitats face and about ensuring ocean conservation has the resources it needs so lives like Kat’s can find their way back from the brink.

Last month, we were honored to be able to show this film to attendees at Mountainfilm in Telluride through immersive VR headsets! 🎥 Watch the full film here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPeTGii5-BI

Signs of restoration success in Colorado! 🌟
Strategically adding a mix of branches, stones and mud structures slows down water flow in this degraded stream channel and revitalizes meadows, combatting impacts of drought. 🌱 In the photo on the right, note the width of the waterway is expanding while sediment is filling in and starting to reconnect the meadows.

Thank you to Outside Summit for convening outdoor industry business leaders this past week in Denver! 🌎 GetOutside

On Friday, we were proud to co-host a Lunch & Learn Workshop centered around Protecting Colorado's Land and Water - From the Ballot to Reality. Carlos Fernandez, Colorado State Director for The Nature Conservancy, joined Jim Petterson, Tarn Udall and Alan Salazar to discuss threats to Colorado's outdoor economy, wildlife and communities, and how Proposed Initiative 308 offers a solution without raising taxes.

In this working session, we dug deep into the mechanics of the measure, how it could benefit Colorado’s outdoors, what it takes to get it across the finish line in November 2026, and how your voice and network can make all the difference. Thank you to all who attended and participated in this important workshop!

Did you know over 3 billion people depend on fisheries for their livelihoods? 🐟 And 1/3 of global fisheries are overfished?

Saturday morning at Mountainfilm began with a fantastic Coffee Chat: Seas of Change 💭 This panel was filled with inspiring voices - filmmakers, deep sea divers, conservation directions, lawyers, and surfers - all connected through their passion: protecting our oceans. 🌊

Thank you to all speakers, Sara Mascola, Deputy Director of Oceans, Land and Water at The Nature Conservancy (shown speaking in this video), , Gabriela Gomez, Terry Kennedy, and , for igniting the audience to fight for what they care about!
