The College of Political Knowledge has long stood as Boulder’s go-to launchpad for Boulder City Council Races—an opportunity for community members to hear directly from those who’ve been in the arena.

This year’s event was a great success and we’re sharing snippets from the event leading up to the August 26th 2026 City Council Forum, where you can hear directly from the candidates themselves.

Have you heard the news? The 2026 primary elections are on June 30th, and we wanted to share some key info and dates with you!

For starters, primary elections are elections held to determine which candidates will run in an upcoming general election. These elections determine who will run for each party. They do not determine the final winning candidate for an office. Primary elections are still very important and a major part of democracy.

This June, the Democratic, Republican, Unity and Libertarian Parties are holding primaries. Content will vary by party. Contests may include candidates for U.S. Senate, Congressional, state, and local candidate races.

In Boulder County the key dates are:

June 8th, 2026 | Ballots are mailed

June 22nd, 2026 | Vote Centers open for in-person voting and voter assistance, also the last recommended day to return your ballot by mail.

June 30th, 2026 | Election Day

It’s time for another Stats Spotlight from the Boulder Chamber Economic Vitality team. This time, we're looking at the new “ Beyond the Bite” report.

“While a Friday evening in the county’s urban centers might suggest a thriving dining scene, a broader macroeconomic reality is surfacing across Boulder County. Flattening foot traffic, a deepening cost-of-living crisis, and surging operational expenses, specifically labor, food, and rent—are the primary pressure points for the region’s hospitality industry.

The U.S. restaurant industry is projected to hit $1.55 trillion in nominal sales in 2026, yet an alarming 42% of operators are unprofitable. In Boulder County, anecdotal reports of a shrinking “talent pool” are now substantiated by data. To understand why the industry feels as though it is contracting despite nominal economic growth, we must examine the regional friction points driving this localized economic shift.”
