We empower school communities with gardens and curriculum to engage all students in experiential outdoor education. Follow us on Instagram!

Our Garden to Table program provides elementary schools in Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) with the resources and support to build vegetable gardens and create hands-on learning experiences for students with growing, preparing and eating healthy food. The theme based program allows teachers to integrate lessons with core curriculum and nurture the knowledge, skills and behaviors that lead to wellness and connectedness to their community and natural environment.

Happy weekly Wednesday Spotlight! Hollie joined as a Garden Lead at Superior after teachers expressed interest in connecting the school garden to the classroom instead of an after school club. She loves the cyclical nature of the lessons and she’s thrilled to be teaching in the garden.
When she is not helping out at Superior Elementary, she is with the Monarch High School Marching Band with her senior Color Guard student, Clayre, or with her freshman, Izzy, on the softball field. You can also find her with her husband and two boys, Alex and Luke, on the golf course. Her favorite season is fall, and she especially loves to take pictures of her dog, Noodle, with the changing foliage. Scroll through to see one of these pictures!

This week we’re highlighting another volunteer: ! Katie is a mom of two Lafayette Elementary students and just kicked off her fifth year as a garden lead there. She comes from many generations of gardeners and was excited to join the Garden to Table team at Lafayette. When she’s not in the school garden or her own, she works as a Marketing Writer in the outdoor industry and on the weekends you can usually find her fly fishing, rafting, or hiking with her family along one of the many Colorado rivers she loves. We’re so glad to have her out in the gardens and with the students! 💚🌻🦗

Wow! Thanks so much to Jack Johnson and All At Once for having us out to your Denver shows as a partner. We met so many wonderful people (including Jack himself), and we loved getting to share our work with such a caring bunch. 💚💚💚

Just some more sweet pictures of the radish lifecycle lesson- this time at Uni Hill! We love that third graders get such a hands-on experience harvesting seeds, planting them, measuring their growth, and ultimately eating the radishes! 🫜

It’s the weekly Wednesday Spotlight! This week we’re highlighting one of the amazing Garden Leads at Heatherwood Elementary- Laila! When Laila isn’t volunteering at the school garden, she loves hanging out with her family and her animals. She’s also an avid skier and hiker, and we’re grateful to have her on the team! 💚

In the Fall, third graders learn about radish lifecycles and get to experience them first hand! Over summer, we let the radishes go to seed so third graders can harvest the seeds, plant them, and grow baby radishes before winter comes! Here are some pictures from a radish lifecycle lesson at Whittier on Friday!
