BVGT's first summer playdate of 2025!
Saturday, May 31, 10:00-11:30 am
Lafayette Nature Center, 300 Old Laramie Trail E, Lafayette, CO 80026

Join us for the first BVGT (Boulder Valley Gifted and Talented) playdate of the summer at the Lafayette Nature Center! We’ll play and chat and explore Coal Creek. Around 10:30, we’ll walk over to the Coal Creek Trail. (You might want to bring shoes that can get wet and a towel if your children tend to wade into creeks!) Restrooms and a water fountain are available on site.

Students of all ages (and their grown-ups) are welcome, whether or not the children have been officially identified as “gifted and talented” and regardless of where they attend school (BVSD, other district, private school, home…). Plus, you do not have to be a member of Boulder Valley Gifted and Talented (BVGT) to participate!

Our playdates are best suited for grades K-8; high school students who wish to volunteer and receive community service credit should contact Tylynn to sign up at tbrick @ bvgt.org. Teen volunteers will play and talk with younger children so that their grown-ups can converse with each other with minimal interruptions.

BVGT board members will be on hand, eager to share relevant resources, answer questions, and discuss what we’ve learned about raising and educating gifted children. We’ll also bring a sampling of the BVGT lending library for attendees to browse. (BVGT members are entitled to borrow books to take home.)

Now updated to be HYBRID (in person and also simulcast online)!

While we are thrilled to offer the convenience of a hybrid option, we’d love to connect with you in person! All in-person attendees will be entered in a free drawing to win a single-day family pass for FAN EXPO Denver (previously Denver Pop Culture Con and Denver Comic Con) this summer.*
(*For Thurs/Fri/or Sun admission)

Please join us in person for light refreshments, live Q&A and to meet Doug Alexander, BVSD gifted education instructional specialist and CAGT president! But if your schedule won’t allow, tune in online as he shares the benefits of pop culture media, how students take identity cues from pop culture mentors and role models, how to design and implement learning experiences using pop culture, and why it’s important to give gifted kids the freedom to geek out!
