Meet our newest little warrior! 🩹

This brave baby donkey came to us with multiple leg wounds, but thanks to two weeks of dedicated daily care, flushing, and lots of love, he is officially ready for his next chapter.

Before heading out the door, we made sure he was fully vaccinated and dewormed to give him the healthiest head start possible.

Today, he finally got to go home, side-by-side with his loving mum! It’s moments like this that remind us why our work matters, and it is all made possible by your incredible support. 🐴❤️

This mule was presented to the American Fondouk hospital with a painful limp from a sharp piece of wood deeply embedded in his heel bulb.

Thanks to safe sedation and a local nerve block, we precisely extracted the wood without him feeling a thing! We flushed the wound and applied a protective bandage.

He felt immediate relief and is already walking much better on his way to a full recovery. Great job to his owners for catching the limp early—prompt action prevents nasty infections!

Drop a ❤️ to wish this tough guy a speedy recovery!

This stallion was presented to the American Fondouk hospital for anorexia, he suddenly stopped eating after being in a grass field next to the old medina where he belongs.

At the admission, our team performed a clinical and a thorough oral examination using a speculum which revealed a large piece of wood stuck between his upper cheek teeth.

The foreign body was removed under standing sedation and his mouth was thoroughly flushed.

The horse felt so much better afterwards- he is now enjoying the amazing spring weather of Fez 💙

Oral foreign body in horses can cause excessive salivation, difficulty eating, swelling of the jaw/mouth and halitosis.

These cases require immediate veterinary attention for safe removal and pain relief, as sharp objects can embed in tissues.

Six of our final year students have embarked on a month that they will never forget! Marco, Oliver, Hattie, Veronica, Sophie & Hannah are training at the American Fondouk in Fez under the supervision of the experienced Moroccan veterinary team. They will be helping to look after working equids which are vital to their families and the local economy. A very wide variety of illnesses and injuries occur, and the students will have to cope with a more limited range of medicines and facilities, as is common in emerging economies. This definitely hones clinical skills! The quality of work done at the Fondouk is high, with the greatest of care taken of patients. Experience like this can be life-shaping and we wish our students the best of luck!
