We will solicit sponsors for wreaths to be placed on the headstones of Veterans in the Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens Cemetery in Boone, NC this Dec.

Today we honor the life and service of Henry Vance "Buster" Dishman, a World War II veteran laid to rest at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.

🌍 War: World War II
🗓️ Life: August 15, 1926 – April 13, 2019
⭐ Known As: "Buster"

Henry Vance "Buster" Dishman proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. As a Seaman First Class, he was part of the generation of Americans who answered the call during one of the most significant conflicts in world history. Sailors like Buster helped ensure the success of naval operations across the globe and played a vital role in securing victory for the Allied forces.

Members of the Greatest Generation faced extraordinary challenges and sacrifices in defense of freedom. Through his service, Buster joined millions of Americans who helped preserve the liberties we enjoy today.

After returning home, he continued building a life rooted in family, community, and the values of service and dedication that defined his generation. Though the years have passed, his legacy remains an important part of the story of those who served our nation during World War II.

Today, we pause to remember Henry Vance Dishman, honor his military service, and express our gratitude for his contributions to our country.

Today we honor the life and service of Ralph Clint Davis, a World War II veteran laid to rest at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.

✈️ Service: Private First Class (PFC), U.S. Army Air Corps
🌍 War: World War II
🗓️ Life: August 15, 1920 – January 12, 1998

Ralph Clint Davis proudly served as a Private First Class in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Before the establishment of the United States Air Force in 1947, the Army Air Corps was responsible for training and deploying the airmen who played a critical role in the Allied victory during the war.

As a member of the Greatest Generation, Ralph answered the call to serve during one of the most challenging periods in our nation's history. Army Air Corps personnel flew combat missions, maintained aircraft, supported air operations, and carried out countless duties essential to the success of the war effort. Their courage and dedication helped secure freedom for future generations.

Like so many veterans, Ralph's service was part of a larger story of sacrifice, commitment, and patriotism. His willingness to serve helped defend the ideals and freedoms we continue to cherish today.

Today, we pause to remember PFC Davis, honor his military service, and express our gratitude for the sacrifices made by his generation.

✈️ Service: First Lieutenant (1LT), U.S. Army Air Corps
🌍 War: World War II
🛩️ Unit: 11th Bombardment Group, 43rd Squadron
🗓️ Life: February 8, 1925 – August 16, 1993

Lawrence L. Davidoski proudly served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. As an officer in the Army Air Corps, he was part of the generation of airmen whose skill, courage, and determination helped secure Allied victory during one of the most significant conflicts in world history.

His military marker identifies him as a member of the 11th Bombardment Group, 43rd Squadron, a unit that played an important role in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Aircrews and support personnel of the Army Air Corps carried out demanding missions across vast distances, often facing dangerous conditions in defense of freedom.

As a commissioned officer, First Lieutenant Davidoski accepted the responsibility of leading others while serving his nation during a time of unprecedented challenge. His service reflects the dedication and sacrifice that defined the Greatest Generation.

🗓️ Life: April 9, 1934 – May 20, 2011

Deryl Dennis "Spanky" Danner Sr. proudly served in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Technical Sergeant. During his military career, he served through two significant periods in American military history: the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm.

As a Technical Sergeant, Deryl held an important noncommissioned officer leadership role, helping train, mentor, and lead Airmen while ensuring missions were carried out successfully. The rank reflects years of experience, dedication, and commitment to excellence in service.

Serving during both Vietnam and Desert Storm represents a remarkable military career spanning decades of change and challenge. His willingness to answer the call whenever needed speaks to a deep sense of duty and patriotism.

His headstone also reflects membership in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, highlighting his commitment to community and fellowship beyond his years in uniform.

Today, we pause to remember TSgt Danner, honor his service to our nation, and express our gratitude for the sacrifices he made throughout his military career.

We're excited to share that members of Civil Air Patrol's Boone Composite Squadron will be at the Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk this Saturday and Sunday, October 17-18!

🪖 Service: Sergeant (SGT), U.S. Army
⚔️ Unit: 30th Infantry Division ("Old Hickory")
🌍 War: World War II
💜 Decoration: Purple Heart
🗓️ Life: July 17, 1920 – September 3, 2001

Cameron M. Danner proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II as a member of the 30th Infantry Division, known as the "Old Hickory" Division. The 30th Infantry Division earned a distinguished combat record in Europe, fighting through some of the toughest campaigns of the war and helping liberate occupied territories from N**i control.

SGT Danner's receipt of the Purple Heart reflects the sacrifices he made in service to our nation. Awarded to those wounded or killed by enemy action, the Purple Heart stands as a lasting symbol of courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty.

As a member of the Greatest Generation, Cameron answered the call when freedom was under threat. His service and sacrifice helped secure the liberties we enjoy today and left a legacy worthy of remembrance.

Today, we pause to remember SGT Danner, honor his military service, and recognize the sacrifice represented by the Purple Heart he earned.

🗓️ Life: September 11, 1927 – May 18, 2011

Ernest Dean Dancey proudly served his country as a Private First Class in the United States Army during World War II. As a member of the Greatest Generation, he answered the call to serve during one of the most consequential periods in world history, joining millions of Americans who helped defend freedom and secure a lasting peace for future generations.

Born and raised in Watauga County, Ernest remained deeply connected to his community throughout his life. He was a devoted member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church and was honored as a Past Master of Snow Lodge #363 A.F. & A.M., reflecting his commitment to faith, fellowship, and service.

Like many World War II veterans, Ernest's service did not end when he returned home. He continued to serve through his church, his community, and the example he set for those around him. His life reminds us that the values of duty, integrity, and service extend far beyond military service alone.

Today, we pause to remember PFC Dancey, honor his military service, and express our gratitude for the sacrifices made by his generation.
