We’re proud to welcome Chip Thomas as the new Executive Director of First Tee Birmingham, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.

Chip brings a deep passion for youth development and a strong belief in the power of golf to shape character, build confidence, and create opportunities for the next generation. As he steps into this role, his vision is centered on helping young people grow not only as players, but as leaders, teammates, and active members of their communities.

At First Tee Birmingham, the game has always been about more than what happens on the course. It’s about the life skills, values, and connections that help young people succeed long after they leave the fairway. Chip shares that belief wholeheartedly and is committed to strengthening our mission and expanding our impact throughout the Birmingham community.

“My goal for the First Tee of Birmingham is to enhance the development of the youth holistically, through the game of golf. The participants will be better players and stewards to their communities, but golf is the vehicle, not the destination.”

First Tee Birmingham's Leadership Series, in partnership with PGA Tour Superstore, is a five-week program where teens will build relationships with local PGA Tour Superstore leadership, uncover their strengths and values, explore career possibilities, and set intentional goals for their future.

Overflowing with pride for our community and the kids we mentor.

We are truly humbled to be named a finalist for the Birmingham Business Journal’s Top Young Nonprofit Award.

But this isn’t about an award. It’s about the faces, stories and hearts of the young people we have the privilege to serve.

First Tee Birmingham exists because of the incredible young people we get to serve, the volunteers who give so selflessly, and the community that believes in us.

This recognition belongs to the kids, the volunteers, the supporters and everyone who believes in the power of mentorship and youth development.
