NEW INVESTIGATION: Contaminated kangaroo meat is entering the global food supply!

A new Center for a Humane Economy investigation reveals kangaroo meat tested at 10 times the EU's unacceptable bacterial contamination threshold was still released for export.

Meat that failed retesting was also sold domestically, including for pet food.

The report also exposes a previously undocumented link between Australia's kangaroo meat and greyhound racing industries.

From animal cruelty to food safety, the kangaroo meat trade is facing serious scrutiny.

A historic turning point for New York City's carriage horses. 🐴

After years of controversy, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin have reached an agreement to advance legislation that would end NYC's horse-drawn carriage industry by June 2028.

The agreement comes after years of concerns about horse welfare and devastating tragedies, including the death of 18-year-old Romanch Mahajan in a carriage accident earlier this year.

The proposed legislation also includes provisions to retire carriage horses and help drivers transition into new employment.

The City Council is expected to vote on October 22.

For the horses who have spent their lives pulling carriages through crowded city streets, this could mark the beginning of a very different future.

Another federal lawsuit targeting cage-free egg protections has been thrown out of court.

A federal judge has dismissed the Justice Department’s challenge to Michigan’s law restricting the sale of eggs from hens confined in extreme cages.

The court found that DOJ failed to establish standing to bring the case, delivering another legal setback to federal efforts to challenge state farm animal welfare laws.

Earlier this year, a similar lawsuit against California’s cage-free protections was also dismissed.

The Center for a Humane Economy intervened alongside Animal Wellness Action to help defend Michigan’s law.

The egg industry has invested billions in cage-free production, and more than 130 million American laying hens now live outside cages.

The Center for a Humane Economy will continue defending the progress toward more humane farming practices.

In the United Kingdom, animal rights group Camp Beagle reported on September 30, 2026, that an open rescue, leading to the freeing of three beagles, took place the previous night at MBR Acres, a facility in the UK that breeds beagles for laboratory research.

Camp Beagle, which campaigns for the closure of MBR Acres, shared footage of the three puppies and described the action as part of its ongoing efforts against the site.

Science has moved on. It’s time Marshall Bioresources moves on too.

We’ve been testing on animals since the Great Depression, and we still have sky-high drug prices and no cures for major diseases - all while leaving a trail of animal victims in our wake.

We’re going to end these cruel and unnecessary medical tests on America’s cats and dogs. And we’re doing it one step at a time until it’s done.

For the past 87 years, Marshall BioResources has quietly bred animals for profit in the orchards of North Rose, New York.

Today, as the nation’s largest breeder of dogs for cruel and unnecessary experiments, Marshall has become a stain on the reputation of Wayne County.

Once known for its apple orchards and lake beaches, Wayne County now finds itself in the national spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The people of Wayne County deserve better than to be known for Marshall.

We’ll be at their door tomorrow, September 26.

Today, as dozens continue a 207-mile March for Animals in New York, Congress stepped up by introducing the COMPACT Act to cut federal funding for dog and cat experiments.

No market, no Marshall - and freedom for the dogs and cats.
