Here’s to the next era of impact.

At MLT20, we celebrated two decades of impact, but the conference also gave us a chance to reflect on what it takes to build an institution that lasts 💫

For 20 years, MLT has expanded opportunity, accelerated careers, and helped thousands of leaders unlock their potential. That impact exists because of a community of Fellows, Alumni, partners, sponsors, philanthropists, coaches, and staff who have continued to invest in the mission year after year.

It also exists because of leadership willing to carry the vision forward long before success was guaranteed.

As we look toward MLT’s next chapter, the question isn’t simply how far we’ve come. It’s how we continue building on this foundation for the leaders who will follow 💙

“You see these fellows grow up.” 🤝💙

For many of our employer partners, the impact goes far beyond hiring.

Through MLT, organizations have the opportunity to build relationships with fellows over time — meeting them as students, watching them grow through coaching and professional development, welcoming them as interns, and celebrating their continued success as emerging leaders.

➡️ Those connections create something powerful: a talent pipeline built on trust, mentorship, and a shared investment in future leadership.

The conversations don’t end after an internship or recruiting event. They evolve alongside careers, ambitions, and milestones.

That’s the power of a long-term partnership💡

AI may be transforming how work gets done, but leaders across industries agree: the hardest challenges ahead aren’t technological, they’re human 👤📋

In a recent discussion hosted by MLT and Boston Consulting Group (BCG), senior executives explored how organizations can maintain employee trust, engagement, and performance while navigating rapid technological change.

Several themes emerged:

🔹 Workforce adaptability matters more than predicting future job titles

🔹 Human skills like including critical thinking, collaboration, and relationship management are becoming increasingly valuable

🔹 Transparency is essential for maintaining employee trust during periods of change

🔹 Organizations that successfully adopt AI will pair innovation with intentional leadership

As AI continues to reshape the workplace, leaders have a unique opportunity to help employees navigate change with confidence and see new possibilities for growth.

What does a strong talent partnership actually look like? 🤝💕

Organizations today are looking for more than candidate volume — they’re looking for stronger hiring outcomes, and partners they can trust to help develop future leaders before they enter the hiring process.

That’s why long-term investment in coaching, professional development, and structured talent preparation matters.

At MLT, we work alongside employers to help strengthen talent pipelines through programs designed to equip high-potential candidates with the leadership skills they need to succeed from day one.

We know that your organization is not just looking to hire more talent, but to help build the future of leadership ☀️

The future of recruiting won’t be application-driven 📝👤

Generative AI has reshaped how candidates engage with hiring systems, creating unprecedented application volume and a growing signal-to-noise challenge for talent teams.

Recruiters are now spending less time on baseline qualification and more time evaluating authenticity, preparedness, and long-term potential. And the organizations adapting fastest aren’t adding more filters, automation layers, or screening checkpoints.

They’re rethinking where strong pipelines begin — investing in prepared talent pipelines where candidates arrive already coached, aligned, and ready to perform. Making talent partnerships a core part of their infrastructure.

Organizations partnering with Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) are seeing:

➡ stronger candidate readiness before hiring
➡ reduced screening burden
➡ earlier access to leadership-potential talent
➡ more predictable hiring outcomes

Human-centered recruiting isn’t going away, but it is evolving. The advantage will belong to organizations with access to candidates who are already Day-One Ready before they ever enter the funnel ✨

We’re still buzzing from Day 2 of the MLT20 National Conference, which brought our time together in New York City to a powerful close 💙

Throughout the day, conversations focused on the responsibility leaders have to shape what comes next — through values-driven leadership, community, innovation, and expanding opportunity for others.

A few moments that stayed with us:

“The most productive way to operate is as a diverse organization.” — Mark Tatum, NBA

“People who do well in disruptive times are able to look over the horizon and see what’s in the future after the storm has passed.” — John Rogers, Ariel Investments

“You can do the right thing and still get paid.” — Roland Fryer, Equal Opportunity Ventures

“You still have to be lucky to access opportunity in this country … we shouldn’t have to rely on luck.” — Frances Messano, NewSchools Venture Fund & MLT Board Member

Before the conference closed, seven MLT alumni — Daniel Tarekegn, David Vasquez, Fearon Melton, Kateri Gutierrez, Lebbonee Kittredge, Nolan Smith-Kaprosy, and Vinice Davis — shared how they plan to “Take the Lead” in the months and years ahead. Their reflections were personal, powerful, and a reminder that leadership is measured by what we choose to do next.

We then closed with something truly special: hundreds of attendees coming together in rhythm during a collective drum performance led by MLT Coach Lance Bennett of “Uptown Funk.” 🥁✨

As Coach Lance shared:

“Leadership is about knowing your part… When we trust each other and put it all together, we can truly lead the way.”

Over two unforgettable days, MLT20 became a space for honest conversations, career-defining connections, reunions, inspiration, and renewed clarity about the future we want to build together.

If there was one message that carried throughout the weekend, it was this: every one of us has a role in what comes next.

Thank you to every speaker, sponsor, attendee, alumnus, partner, volunteer, and team member who made this gathering unforgettable 💫

We’ll be sharing more highlights in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, visit mlt20.org to stay connected and continue finding ways to 🌀

Day 1 of MLT20 National Conference brought together our community of leaders and changemakers for a powerful start to a reunion centered on growth, leadership, and the future of work 🌀

Across plenaries and breakout sessions, attendees explored what it means to lead through complexity, embrace innovation thoughtfully, and to create positive impact that scales beyond any one individual. Conversations throughout the day challenged us to think more deeply about leadership in times of uncertainty and rapid change — especially as AI continues reshaping industries and organizations.

💫 Some highlights from the day that resonate with us:

"I think about all the business innovations that have helped people, helped society, over the past few decades. So it's not like we're asking business to do something they haven't done before." - Kedra Newsom Reeves, Managing Director and Partner at BCG, The Employer Imperative: Expanding Prosperity While Driving Performance

“How do you create systems and the leaders to solve problems as opposed to trying to solve every problem yourself” — Angelo Adams, President of Zipcar during Making the Enterprise Leadership Leap

“The single most important thing a leader can do is to cultivate creativity in their people.” — Camiel Irving, CEO of East Abeni Holdings, during Leading Through AI-Driven Change: How to Maintain Trust, Engagement, and Performance

“It’s just as important to know where not to use AI as it is to know where to use AI.” — Otto Burston, GM Product Management of Delta Air Lines during Building AI Into Your Product Strategy

More than anything, Day 1 reinforced the power of community: being in rooms filled with leaders who are willing to ask hard questions, share honest perspectives, and build toward a more equitable future together 💙

We’re just getting started.
