October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), which recognizes the contributions of disabled workers in all fields and highlights the barriers that still keep many individuals from accessing meaningful careers.

According to the Department of Labor in September 2026, only 40.3% of working-age disabled individuals were employed, compared to 75% of individuals without disabilities. This is a stark difference. Few workplaces offer accessible and competitive jobs for autistic, neurodivergent, and disabled adults. Itineris seeks to change this by advocating for policies that create opportunities for these underemployed groups, while offering neurodiversity-affirming training for businesses looking to build diverse, inclusive environments. Our Employment Services department assists clients in job discovery, skills training, and interview prep, ensuring their success by checking in at their job site once they’ve been hired.

The 2026 United Wiffle World Championship was a blast! The whole weekend, CEO Lauren Eaton and the Itineris team enjoyed meeting wiffleball players and their families from across the country (and even from Japan!), spreading our mission to empower autistic adults to achieve their dreams and goals. We are incredibly grateful to our board member, Paul Cooke, and his brother, Tim, for inviting us up into the press box and down onto the York Revolution field to join an action-packed event.

Congratulations to the new World title holders, the MAW Juggernauts, and thank you to everyone who stopped at the table and/or donated! Your support changes lives in Baltimore.

It's October, which means the 2026 United Wiffle Ball World Championship is THIS WEEKEND! As the UWIFF 2026 Community Partner, Itineris will be on-site all three days in York, with CEO Lauren Eaton speaking at WiffCon Friday night, a family-friendly event with food, music, and a home run derby!

Rain or shine, we’re always excited to Run Wild!

The Itineris runners, walkers, and resource table team braved the chilly wind and rain this weekend to join our partners, Pathfinders for Autism and The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, for a great morning of community and celebration. Thanks to all the new and familiar faces who approached our table and picked up information! We love sharing our mission to empower autistic adults with everyone.

Our 3rd annual Camp Itineris 2026 was a huge success! A special thanks to Hollee, our Recreational Therapy Coordinator, and our team of committed DSPs for making the weekend exciting, empowering, and full of friendship and fun. At NorthBay Education, clients tackled a challenging ropes course, hiked scenic trails, cooked together over a campfire, and took every opportunity to connect with their peers.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Elaine Williams, one of the Itineris co-founders.

Elaine helped lay the foundation for the organization we are today, believing deeply in the inclusion, acceptance, and potential of autistic adults. Her vision and work as a trailblazer in the autism world touched many, many lives and families in our community.

We mourn this tremendous loss and celebrate the legacy that Elaine leaves behind. In addition to co-founding Itineris, Elaine volunteered her time training our young professionals, serving on the Board of Directors and the advisory board, and was a long-standing member of the Quality Assurance Committee, dating back to the inception of our Behavior Support Services department.

We extend our deepest condolences to Elaine’s husband, Bob, her son, Scott, her loved ones, and all of those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her.

Thank you, Elaine, for helping us begin this journey. Elaine truly loved our mission, was a huge advocate, and always had Itineris in mind, doing work on our behalf wherever she was. We are so grateful for all her contributions to the autism community and to Itineris, and we will miss her. Elaine, your legacy forever lives on at Itineris.

This month, Sam L sat on a panel of peers for “Perseverance: A Storytelling Event” with Baltimore Banner | Baltimore news, politics and arts and thearcbaltimore. The room was filled with familiar faces, as Sam spoke about his experience being diagnosed, sharing that he believes autistic and disabled individuals should be treated equally.

We believe that the stories we share, the challenges we face, and the successes we achieve should always be led by autistic, neurodivergent, and disabled individuals.

Happy Friday & Happy DSP Appreciation Week! Over the past couple of days, we have recognized and celebrated our dedicated Direct Support Professionals, who, through their passion and expertise, have built skills and supported autistic adults' independence across all our programs and services. From breakfasts together, ‘thank yous’ from our board of directors and supervisors, and exciting prize raffles, it’s been a delight to ensure DSPs know how valued they are to the Itineris mission.

Every single day at Itineris, DSPs change lives. We are so grateful for our excellent team and the exceptional service they provide.
