As much as we all love Fridays in general, we think it’s even better when it’s a Follow Up Friday!

This week it’s for Halo, who was adopted just about one year ago.

His adopter says “He's been such a great boy….he’s been such a joy to us and everyone he has met.” They also said “He’s loving life and is so well behaved. He listens to commands, waits for his meals and treats just fine. He has some little best friends down the street that he walks with and they walk together like best friends. He loves meeting new people. All around having the best time and living his best life!”

What a great update! We are so grateful for Halo’s adopters for sharing this update with us and giving him everything he needs to have a great life!

With a name like Smuckers, he HAS to be sweet!

Some dogs come into the shelter with a collar. Some come with a microchip. And then there’s Smuckers… who showed up with JELLY on his tail!

We have absolutely no idea how it got there, but the shelter decided there was only one appropriate name for this sticky situation. And just like that, Smuckers was born!

The good news? The jelly is long gone, but the sweetness is here to stay!

At 4 years old and 85 pounds, Smuckers is a big, handsome German Shepherd with an even bigger heart. He’s calm, affectionate, easygoing, and the kind of guy who makes you wonder how someone hasn’t scooped him up already!

Smuckers loves attention, enjoys spending time with people, and has done well with female dogs. He’s also crate trained, intelligent, eager to please, and has been working on his leash skills with our ASR volunteers.

And while his name might make you think of a sugar rush, Smuckers is actually a pretty mellow fellow! He’s got a wonderfully even temperament, a goofy side, and plenty of affection to spread around.

We may never solve the mystery of the jelly-covered tail, but there’s one thing we’re absolutely certain of… Smuckers is 100% sweet and ready for a home!

Okay, now that we’ve got you singing along, let’s introduce the star of the show!

Meet Gia, a beautiful 2 year old, 52-pound pup who has the looks, the personality, and the moves to steal the spotlight!

Gia is happy, social, affectionate, and just the right amount of goofy. She’s a total love bug who enjoys spending time with people and gets along with other dogs. Whether you’re looking for a walking buddy, hiking companion, or jogging partner, Gia is ready to join the fun!

But don’t think this girl is all play and no brains! Gia is intelligent, crate trained, and eager to please. She’s got plenty of love to give and would be thrilled to have someone special to share her days with.

While Gia’s life before ASR is a mystery, we know she deserves a future filled with love, happiness, and security. We promised her we’d help make that happen.

In return, Gia promises a lifetime of laughs, loyalty, and unconditional love. And unlike that song, we’re not asking who let the dogs out… we’re asking who’s going to let Gia IN! Into their home, into their family, and into their heart!

Kaya has never met a stranger… just friends who haven’t introduced themselves yet! Some dogs play hard to get. Kaya missed that memo entirely!

This handsome, 40 pound guy is about a year old, and he’s pretty convinced the world is full of wonderful people, interesting smells, and potential new best friends. Honestly, he’s not wrong!

Kaya is the kind of guy who brings a little extra sunshine wherever he goes. He’s affectionate, playful, intelligent, and just goofy enough to keep you laughing. He enjoys making canine friends, loves spending time with his people, and is always happy to be included in whatever’s happening.

And don’t let that adorable face fool you into thinking he’s all charm and no brains! Kaya is crate trained, rides well in the car, and has already mastered the art of waiting patiently while his leash is put on. He also settles nicely in his crate when it’s time to relax. As for sharing? Kaya has shown no signs of guarding his food or toys. What a gentleman!

Now, we’d love to tell you Kaya is completely perfect, but his puppy-like enthusiasm occasionally gets the better of him, so a home without small children would be best. With continued training, patience, and guidance, this clever boy has everything it takes to become an amazing companion.

The only thing Kaya hasn’t figured out yet? Why he doesn’t have a family of his own!

He’s got the looks, the personality, the brains, and plenty of love to give. All that’s missing is someone to call his own.

Harley’s been waiting so long, it’s getting spooky!

Halloween is full of ghosts, goblins, and things that go bump in the night, but the scariest thing we can think of? Another Halloween passing without Harley finding her forever home!

This sweet 6 year old has been waiting far too long for someone to see just how special she is. At 50 pounds, Harley is the perfect size for a sidekick, and she’s got enough personality to keep life interesting!

Harley is smart as a whip, loyal to the bone, and always ready for her next adventure. Whether it’s hiking through the woods, hitting the trails for a run, or hopping in the car for a new adventure, she’s happiest when she has something fun to do and someone special to share it with.

Don’t let her brave exterior fool you! Behind that confident Shepherd personality is an affectionate, playful girl with a goofy side that’s sure to make you smile. She loves her toys, knows her manners, and is always eager to please.

Harley’s dream home isn’t a haunted mansion (although she’d probably make an excellent ghost patrol officer!). She’s simply looking for an active, adult-only household that understands working breeds and will appreciate her intelligence, energy, and unwavering loyalty.

Harley has been overlooked for far too many seasons. Could this Halloween finally be the one where her waiting ends and her happily ever after begins?

🎵“It’s Friday, Friday…”🎵 Does that song (by Rebecca Black) live rent free in anyone else’s head? Anyway, with it being Friday it’s time for another installment of Follow Up Friday!

This one is coming from Yogi’s family! He’s now known as Maverick! They shared with us that “Maverick continues to be a goofball. He and Freya are basically a comedy show at this point, and he's picked up some other friends along the way.”

We LOVE the pictures - how cute are those two?! Thank you to his adopters for sending the update and of course for adopting!

Goliath: built like a tank, programmed like a teddy bear!

Good news, too ! Goliath just completed heartworm treatment and is now free of these nasty parasites!!!!

Don’t let the name fool you - Goliath may be a big guy at 70 pounds, but underneath all that German Shepherd is a professional grade cuddle bug who would happily like to reserve a spot right next to you.

Goliath’s past may be a mystery, but he has held onto an incredibly sweet and gentle nature. The volunteers who meet him can’t say enough about what a loving boy he is and even the shelter veterinarian made a point of commenting on his wonderfully sweet temperament!

His current list of priorities is pretty straightforward: learn about the world, make friends, collect affection, and determine exactly how much of himself can fit beside you for cuddles. Spoiler alert: he will probably insist the answer is “all of me.”

Goliath is good with dogs and adults, does well in the car, is crate trained, affectionate, eager to please, even-tempered, and gentle. Mostly, though, he’s a big-hearted guy looking for someone willing to show him that the best part of his story is still ahead.

If your home has room for a gentle giant - and your personal space requirements are negotiable - ask to meet Goliath!
