Last night, our community gathered for “Where the Poppies Bloom: A Baltimore Community Commemoration of October 7,” marking three years since the horrific attacks on Israel.

Community members created ceramic poppies that will be installed in a memorial garden on the Goldsmith Campus, honoring those who were killed and the lives forever changed.

Special thanks to Baltimore Jewish Council for leading the charge.

Inspired by Israel’s national flower, these blooms symbolize both remembrance and resilience, reminding us that even after profound loss, new growth can emerge.

Simchat Torah begins at sundown on Saturday, October 3 and is one of the rare occasions when Torah scrolls are taken from the ark at night.

As we dance and sing with the Torah, we celebrate the end of one cycle of reading and the beginning of another. And we’re reminded that there is always more to learn, more to share and more ways to connect with one another.

Jewish Baltimore just added six new members to our community!

Last night, we welcomed our new Shinshiniot (Israel emissaries) at a dinner held in their honor.

Over the coming year, they will connect with students, families and community members through schools, camps, community events and more, helping to strengthen the connection between Jewish Baltimore and Israel.

Now in its 19th year, the Shinshinim program is a partnership between The Jewish Agency for Israel and The Associated, managed locally by Jewish Educational Services.
