We are grateful for the dedicated leadership of the OneStar Foundation and OneStar National Service Commission Boards, whose service helps strengthen the foundation for thriving Texas communities. At our joint board meeting in Arlington last week, board members heard directly from AmeriCorps Volunteers serving with Equal Heart and local partners including Reading Partners North Texas offering a firsthand look at the regional impact of national service in action. 💙

The day also brought together board leadership and OneStar staff to explore the issues and opportunities shaping our work, including disaster recovery, the state of nonprofits and philanthropy (thanks to insights from North Texas Nonprofit Institute), future funding opportunities, and OneStar’s brand and future direction. These conversations reflect the depth of expertise across OneStar and our commitment to using data, partnerships, policy, and national service to create meaningful impact for Texas communities. We are especially grateful to the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation for hosting us at the incredible Globe Life Field in Arlington and to our board members for their time, insight, and continued commitment to OneStar’s mission. 🌟

Thank you to Congressman Ronny Jackson's team for welcoming OneStar on Capitol Hill last week and taking the time to learn more about AmeriCorps service across Texas’ 13th Congressional District.

National service has a broad footprint across TX-13, with AmeriCorps Volunteers serving communities throughout northwest Texas and the Panhandle. Their work includes tutoring and literacy support for students, academically focused after-school and summer programming, integrated support for students in high-need schools, and classroom service that helps strengthen the rural teacher pipeline. AmeriCorps Volunteers also build the capacity of local nonprofits, schools, government agencies, food assistance organizations, community programs, parks, and other institutions that are essential to strong rural communities.

That range of service demonstrates how AmeriCorps can adapt to the priorities of communities large and small. We appreciated the opportunity to share what that looks like on the ground and thank the Jackson team for engaging with us and learning more about national service in TX-13!

Thank you to U.S. Representative John Carter John Carter’s team for welcoming OneStar during our visit to Capitol Hill last week and taking the time to learn more about how AmeriCorps is serving communities across Texas’ 31st Congressional District.

In TX-31, AmeriCorps Volunteers are helping students and schools thrive in local communities. Their service includes mentoring and academic support for students, strengthening academic readiness and well-being, supporting classroom instruction and enrichment in rural schools, and expanding the pipeline of future educators. AmeriCorps Volunteers are also serving in under-resourced schools, helping students reach their academic potential while responding to needs identified by local communities.

We appreciated the opportunity to share these examples with congressional staff and discuss how national service connects federal resources with locally driven solutions. Thank you again to the Carter team for the conversation and for learning more about AmeriCorps in TX-31!

Thank you to Congressman August Pfluger's team for meeting with OneStar during our time on Capitol Hill last week and hearing about the many ways AmeriCorps Volunteers are serving communities throughout Texas’ 11th Congressional District.

Across TX-11, national service is addressing a wide range of locally identified priorities. AmeriCorps Volunteers are helping steward public lands and strengthen disaster response, supporting instruction and enrichment in rural schools while developing future educators, and helping communities connect residents with essential resources. Their service also contributes to efforts around food access, economic self-sufficiency, opportunities for children outside the school day, and other community needs.

AmeriCorps is designed to meet communities where they are, pairing committed people with local organizations working on challenges that matter to residents. We appreciated the opportunity to share that story with the Pfluger team and to continue the conversation about national service in TX-11!

Thank you to Congressman Nathaniel Moran ’s team for welcoming OneStar on Capitol Hill last week and taking time to hear about AmeriCorps service happening across Texas’ 1st Congressional District.

AmeriCorps Volunteers are serving East Texas communities in ways that reflect the varied needs of the region. In TX-01, their work includes stewarding public lands and waterways, strengthening disaster response and recovery, and engaging community volunteers in service. AmeriCorps Volunteers are also working in rural schools, where they support classroom instruction and enrichment while helping develop a pipeline of future educators who understand and are invested in rural communities.

We were grateful for the opportunity to share how AmeriCorps puts people into service alongside local organizations and communities to address needs close to home. Thank you to the Moran team for listening, asking questions, and learning more about the role of national service in East Texas!

Thank you to Congressman Greg Casar's team for meeting with OneStar on Capitol Hill last week and taking time to learn about the extensive AmeriCorps service happening across Texas’ 35th Congressional District.

AmeriCorps Volunteers are addressing a remarkable range of community priorities throughout the region. Their service includes literacy and math tutoring, mentoring and academic support, college access and advising, STEM enrichment, and social-emotional support for students. AmeriCorps Volunteers are also increasing access to food and other essential resources, helping people build pathways toward greater self-sufficiency, providing job-readiness support for people with disabilities, conserving public lands, and strengthening disaster response and recovery. They also engage additional community volunteers, extending the reach of service even further.

We appreciated the opportunity to show congressional staff how national service translates into tangible work in neighborhoods, schools, and community organizations throughout TX-35. Thank you to the Casar team for the conversation and for learning more about AmeriCorps in the district!
