The Children’s Haven Association, East Austin’s 77-year-old nonprofit serving historically marginalized families and communities, announces The Ruth and Alfred Dotson, Sr. Community Legacy Initiative, a campaign to encourage Austin area residents to include local churches and other non-profit service organizations in estate planning gifts and bequests. According to Ronald Dotson, son of Alfred and Ruth and executor of the estate, “My father did a remarkable thing by leaving part of his estate to non-family members. He is teaching the importance of showing appreciation and giving back to community groups that have been with us through the years.” Announcement and distribution to estate beneficiaries will be held on Sunday April 30, 3:00 p.m., at The Children’s Haven Association, 1908 Chicon Street, Austin, Texas.
