Celebrating the inaugural Young Futures Awardees powered by .

At the YF Block Party, we had the joy of honoring leaders building toward a tech-filled future where young people can truly thrive.

We awarded changemakers across six categories: Good Actors Within Tech and Innovation, Research and Academia, Storytellers: Journalists, Artists, and Influencers, Activists, Entrepreneurs and Adults Championing Youth and Their Families.

Together, they’re showing us what it looks like to meet this moment with imagination, care, courage, and a deep commitment to young people’s agency, wellbeing, and futures.

We’re so grateful to celebrate their work, their vision, and the futures they are helping make real.

Be yourself. Find balance. Get offline. Prioritize self-care. Be intentional. Think beyond tech. Validate your experiences.

At the YF Block Party, we asked people what advice they would give to young people growing up in a digital world.

Because young people deserve more than warnings about technology. They deserve tools, trust, imagination, and a future they have a real hand in shaping.

“Start with the teen and not the tech.”

Our foundational funders at sat down with Young Futures CEO and Dr. Emily Weinstein of the Center for Digital Thriving to talk about what it really takes to build a healthier digital future for young people.

The conversation gets into digital tension, AI, social media, teen agency and why the best solutions have to be shaped with young people, not just for them.

AI does not just live in “the cloud.” It lives in the land, water, power, and communities required to fuel it.

In this 4th episode of our partnership, we’re looking at how AI is impacting rural America and Indigenous lands — from the land, water, and power needed to fuel the AI boom to the communities too often left out of the benefits.

Baratunde Thurston talks with YF Innovators Charlotte Dungan of the Mark Cuban Foundation and Tessa Zientek of AISES about AI agency, digital sovereignty, data stewardship, and what it means for young people to be builders, not just bystanders, in a tech-filled future.

Thank you to every applicant who submitted to the Express Yourself Challenge Series. :green_heart:

We’re so grateful to the organizations, leaders, and young people who shared solutions designed to help girls, boys, and trans and gender-expansive young people navigate digital pressures with more confidence, belonging, and safety.

Our team is excited to spend the next few weeks reviewing your submissions. If you’re invited to submit a full application, keep an eye out for an email from us by mid-June with next steps.

Thank you for building toward a digital world that’s easier, safer, and more affirming to grow up in.

Still thinking about what it felt like to be in that room.

Our first Young Futures Block Party brought together our YF Innovators, YF awardees, funders, nonprofit leaders, researchers, technologists, artists, advocates, partners and friends for two days of connection, celebration and honest conversation about what young people need now.

We heard from youth leaders and trusted adults. We celebrated the first annual Young Futures Awards, powered by . We filled out zines and sent postcards at the Cafe, shared meals, line danced and watched new collaborations start forming in real time.

The biggest takeaway: we are not short on reasons for optimism. Young people are already building the futures they deserve, and this community is here to help make that future possible.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Austin and everyone cheering this work on from afar.

More panels, highlights, and Block Party moments coming soon.

Night One of YF Block Party! 🤠✨

We kicked things off at the Welcome Party at Arlyn Studios with cowboy boots, hats, great music, performances and the best community. It was so special to bring together our YF Innovators, awardees, partners, funders, friends, and the people helping shape the future of youth wellbeing all in one room.

A little bit country, a lot of joy, and the perfect start to our first-ever YF Block Party! 💚

For many transgender and nonbinary young people, online spaces are not separate from real life. They are where language gets found, identity gets explored, and, sometimes, where survival begins.

“A Digital Friend, A Transgender Journey,” written in collaboration with , explores how digital spaces can help transgender and nonbinary young people find language, community, and pride.

Through the Just The Way You Are Challenge, we’re funding programs, tools, and approaches that help gender-expansive young people build a sense of self that is valued — fostering safety, visibility, authentic self-expression, and supportive community.

Meet the inaugural 2026 Young Futures Awardees, powered by Hopelab! ✨
These leaders are shaping what it looks like for young people to grow up with more agency, safety, belonging and possibility in a tech-filled world.

Across research, technology, storytelling, activism, entrepreneurship and youth advocacy, they’re building tools, communities, policies, stories and systems that center young people not as an afterthought, but as the future already leading us forward.

We’re so proud to welcome them into the Young Futures community and celebrate them at the first-ever YF Block Party in Austin.

What does it mean for boys to come of age online in a world that so often confuses isolation with strength?

In “Dylan, Are We Cooked?”, , reflects on what boys are telling us through the language they have — and what it would look like to build something better.

That’s why we launched the In My Dreams Challenge: to fund programs, tools, and approaches that help adolescent boys build a sense of self beyond rigid gender expectations, expand definitions of masculinity, and strengthen healthy belonging and relationships.
