Austin Bulldog Rescue’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving and knowledgeable families for rescued English Bulldogs. We rescue bulldogs from animal shelters, other rescue groups and from owners who can no longer properly care

for their English Bulldog. Upon intake, we place each bulldog into a foster home that has been pre-approved and fully prepared to care for the specific needs of each bulldog. We provide and fund ALL health care needs for each bulldog while in our foster’s care…including medications, surgeries, vaccinations, preventatives, supplements and of course, spay and neuter. When healthy, happy and ready, each bulldog is matched with a pre-approved family and if all parties agree it is truly a perfect match, the bulldog is adopted into their furever home.

It’s that time of year again!

As summer vacations begin, many of our foster families will be traveling and we need temporary sitters to help care for some very deserving bulldogs while they’re away.

These dogs are already settled into foster homes and just need a short-term place to stay until their foster families return. We’ll match each dog with an available home based on your household and availability.

Amigo has 12 days.

12 days to find an adopter (or permanent foster) before he loses the home he has now.

We’re struggling with this one because we genuinely don’t understand why he keeps getting passed over. People ask about him. People express interest. But no one follows through. And while the inquiries come and go, Amigo is the one left waiting.

He’s already been let down more times than any dog should be.

The truth is, Amigo is an incredibly easy dog. He’s potty trained, trustworthy left home alone during a normal workday, dog friendly, and full of the goofy, lovable boxer personality that makes everyone smile. He doesn’t need much—just a lower traffic home where he can feel safe, settle in, and finally stop wondering where he’ll end up next.

This is becoming urgent.

We need someone to see past the scrolling, past the “maybe someday,” and choose him.

WE CAN’T SAVE THEM WITHOUT YOU. 🫵

Every dog that comes through Austin Bulldog Rescue has a story.

Some are pulled from shelters with nowhere else to go. Some need emergency medical care. Some just need a safe place to land while they wait for a second chance.

What they all have in common is this: They need people.👩🏼‍🦱👨🏾‍🦱👱🏾🧑🏼‍🦰👨🏾‍🦰👵🏻🧓🏽👴🏻👩🏻‍🦳

The dogs you see in our care today are only safe because volunteers stepped up. Someone drove them to freedom. Someone opened their home as a foster. Someone took photos, staffed an event, helped with social media, interviewed adopters, updated a website, or raised funds for lifesaving medical care.

There isn’t just one way to help.

* Foster, transport, or help get dogs to vet appointments.
* We need photographers, content creators, designers, and social media volunteers.
* Join our interview team, help with fundraising, grant writing, or website support.
* Help the events team with merchandise, dog handling, setup, and logistics.

If you’re worried you don’t have enough time, don’t count yourself out.

You don’t need to volunteer every week.
You don’t need special experience.
You don’t even need to foster.

We are very sad to share that our sweet June didn’t survive the pneumonia. 💔

Her body was too broken and full of infection. We pulled out all the stops at the ER and ultimately her body gave out and we had to say goodbye.

It’s been hard, all the loss. We want so much to be the start of something good and positive for each of these lives and so often find ourselves trudging through grief over and over.

Rescue is hard. Lives like June matter so much and she deserved a full and happy life. Letting go and knowing that she barely got to feel happiness and love is a hard pill to swallow.

Hug your babies tight. Life can be so very short and life is definitely not always fair.

We love you June. You were precious, gentle, and sought affection even in your last hours when you could barely breathe.
Rest easy beautiful girl. Breathe and sleep, and please come back to us in some way. Our hearts are very broken.

🚨 UM… HOW IS DEV STILL AVAILABLE?! 🚨

This handsome Frenchie is making a pretty strong case for being just about perfect. 💙

✅ Playful without being over the top
✅ Redirects well
✅ Easygoing, go-with-the-flow personality

During his visit, Dev had an absolute blast with ABR volunteer pups, Winnie and Pip, especially when it came to their favorite activity: mouth fencing. 😂 He loves making friends, enjoys playtime, and is the kind of dog who can also just hang out and enjoy life.

Truthfully, we can see Dev fitting into many different homes. He’s a well-rounded, social, lovable little guy who is looking for a family to call his own. All he needs is an adopter who understands the Frenchie lifestyle (or is excited and willing to learn!).

She Survived Emergency Surgery… Now She’s Fighting for Her Life 🚨

When June arrived from our city shelter, we knew she needed help.

She had just undergone emergency surgery for pyometra, a life-threatening uterine infection that can quickly become fatal if left untreated. We were hopeful that surgery would be the turning point.

But now June is facing another serious battle.

She has been hospitalized with severe pneumonia and pleural effusion, a condition where fluid builds up around the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. For dogs, this can be incredibly dangerous and requires intensive, around-the-clock medical care, oxygen support, advanced diagnostics, and powerful medications.

June’s pneumonia is severe enough that her veterinary team has started her on Meropenem, one of the strongest antibiotics available. This is not a simple infection. She is very sick, and her doctors are doing everything they can to give her a chance.

Hospitalization for severe pneumonia is extremely expensive, and June is expected to need ongoing care as she fights to recover.

Meet DAISY 🌼

This sweet 5 year old bulldog was surrendered to the shelter after her owner moved out of the country. Through no fault of her own, Daisy now finds herself needing a new beginning.

Daisy is described as:

✅ Dog friendly
✅ Cat friendly
✅ Kid friendly
✅ Crate trained
✅ House trained

Most importantly, Daisy is a very sweet girl who is likely wondering why her whole world changed overnight. 💔

We are urgently looking for a foster located in ATX or rescue placement to help ensure Daisy has somewhere safe to go while her next chapter begins.
