The beauty and wonder of The Sistine Chapel Experience has arrived in Austin and will be open now through the end of April. This immersive exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to encounter Michelangelo’s iconic frescoes up close through stunning, high-resolution reproductions that bring the art, history and meaning of the Sistine Chapel to life.
We are grateful that Mobile Loaves & Fishes is one of the beneficiaries of ticket sales from this experience. For more than a decade, you have helped lift our neighbors off the streets and into community and home at Community First! Village. Because of you, nearly 500 men and women who once experienced homelessness in Austin now have a place to feel safe, known and supported—and a community where love and care are shared from neighbor to neighbor.
Kim, DeLori and Shea are part of a growing Neighbor Leader program in the Village. As community connectors, they help engage their neighbors in events, build relationships and ensure everyone has access to the resources they need. Having walked through homelessness themselves, they understand both the hardship of life on the streets and the healing that comes with a permanent home.

This spring, something as simple as a cookie can make a meaningful impact. Through our partnership with Chick-fil-A, every Chocolate Chunk Cookie purchased this April will help support Mobile Loaves & Fishes and our neighbors living in Community First! Village.
From April 1–30, Chick-fil-A will donate 30% of sales (before tax) from every individual Chocolate Chunk Cookie and 6-pack purchased at participating Austin locations to MLF. It’s more than a treat—it’s a small act that contributes to restoration, dignity and community for our neighbors!

At Community First! Village, we are building community within community. That is why we are excited to share about Neighborhoods of Knowingness, Mobile Loaves & Fishes’ architectural approach for growing the Village that combines a mix of home models in pockets of 40-50 homes. These homes are grouped around a communal area and shared community buildings—including outdoor kitchens and laundry/restroom/shower facilities—allowing our neighbors to connect more regularly in a shared area of the neighborhood.
As we continue to expand the Village and welcome more of our friends home from the streets, we are inviting the greater Austin community to partner with us in the city’s most talked about neighborhood. Whether through presence, relationships or support, there is an opportunity for individuals, groups and organizations to help shape our unique Neighborhoods of Knowingness into places of belonging and connection. The gathering created an opportunity to connect human to human, heart to heart, fostering meaningful conversation about the future of mitigating homelessness in our region and across the nation.

We are grateful for our partnership with Buff City Soap who is helping us welcome new neighbors to Community First! Village in a meaningful way. Through this partnership, Buff City Soap is donating thoughtfully assembled kits filled with products selected in collaboration with our move-in team. Each new neighbor will receive a kit upon moving into their home, creating a warm start to this new chapter and a powerful way to extend care and dignity from day one.

Springtime at Community First! Village brings a fresh, new energy to the neighborhood! Every home in the Village is built with a front porch, creating space for connection right outside each door. With the recent sunny weather, neighbors have been getting out and enjoying the Village—walking their dogs, spending time on their porches and building human to human, heart to heart connections with neighbors, volunteers and visitors who stop by.

Mobile Loaves & Fishes began when five parishioners of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Austin, Texas boldly answered God’s call to “love your neighbor as yourself.” Alan Graham and his friends began delivering meals out of the back of a minivan to men and women they found living on the streets. Graham readily admits that the group’s original approach for serving the homeless had some flaws, but with the help of a formerly homeless man they perfected the model that Mobile Loaves & Fishes successfully uses today.
Their first trip serving meals on the streets of Austin was in September of 1998. Within a few months Graham and his group purchased a pickup truck with a catering bed. Since that first truck run, Mobile Loaves & Fishes volunteers have served more than 5 million meals with a side of hope to homeless men and women living on the streets. Delivering more than a sandwich, Mobile Loaves & Fishes volunteers hit the streets 7 nights a week, 365 days a year to provide food, clothing, hygiene products and other life-sustaining items to our homeless neighbors who are struggling to survive.
With the support of more than 19,000 volunteers, Mobile Loaves & Fishes is the largest prepared feeding program to the homeless in Austin, Texas and has spawned similar food truck programs in other cities across the country.
Complementing its truck ministry, Mobile Loaves & Fishes is also the visionary behind Austin’s innovative Community First! Village — a 51-acre master planned development that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for the chronically homeless in Central Texas. Additionally, Mobile Loaves & Fishes’ Community Works program provides micro-enterprise opportunities that enable formerly homeless men and women to earn a dignified income, develop new skills and cultivate enduring relationships as they take part in a restorative journey home.
