Together with advocates and community leaders, Feeding Texas brought Hunger Action Day to the Capitol! 🧡

To build a hunger-free Texas, we need to act together. That’s why for this Hunger Action Day; we brought hunger heroes to talk about hunger in their communities and why our legislators must keep SNAP funded in the upcoming legislative session.

Special thanks to the Difference Makers Fellowship, the South Plains Food Bank, the Texas Consortium for the Non-Medical Drivers of Health, the Sustainable Food Center, the Brazos Valley Food Bank and the Episcopal Diocese of Texas for their expertise and dedication in the fight against hunger. Texas kids need your help. The food insecurity crisis has grown even deeper in Texas. Child food insecurity rose from 22.2% to 26.1% in just one year.

SNAP serves as a lifeline for 1.48 million Texas kids. That’s why the Feeding Texas network of food banks is asking Congress to delay the SNAP cost share. The majority of people on SNAP in Texas are kids and seniors. Rushing policy changes will impact our kids and seniors most. Help protect food access for kids by sending a letter to your elected officials at secure.feedingtexas.org/a/delay-snap-cost-share

Too many Texans are struggling to put food on the table. With 6,062,800 Texans facing food insecurity, it’s clear our communities need more support as the cost of basics climb. Texas food banks are seeing record demand.

This is the time to protect food access. That’s why the Feeding Texas network is asking Congress to delay the SNAP cost share, so we can protect the critical lifelines SNAP offers and Texas has time to improve program integrity. Join us by sending a letter to your elected officials at secure.feedingtexas.org/a/delay-snap-cost-share

Food insecurity is on the rise in Texas. New data from Feeding America shows that in just one year, Texas saw food insecurity rise from 17.6% to 19.4%. Children and seniors saw significant increases in food insecurity during that time.

Texas food banks are seeing the impacts with record demands. The Feeding Texas network of food banks is calling on Congress to delay the SNAP cost share, because SNAP is our most effective tool to fight hunger. For every one meal a food bank provides, SNAP provides nine. This rushed policy change could drastically cut SNAP when Texans need it most. Take action to protect this critical food support at secure.feedingtexas.org/a/delay-snap-cost-share

After a year of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” Texas is seeing large drops in SNAP participation, particularly for children.

At the same time, Texas food banks are seeing huge demand for emergency food assistance. These patterns strongly suggest that new eligibility restrictions and expanded work requirements are making it harder for eligible Texans to stay enrolled. Help protect food access for working families, veterans, children and seniors by asking Congress to delay the SNAP cost share at https://secure.feedingtexas.org/a/delay-snap-cost-share.
