BREAKING NEWS! 📣 🗞️ THE TRAIL'S THE BEST!

Austin has spoken, and the Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail is the Austin Chronicle's best place to walk and bike trail/track for the 4th year in a row! 🎉

The critics have also spoken, and the Wishbone Bridge has been named the best spot for a sunset stroll! 🌅

25 years of the Pfluger Bridge 🤩

On June 16, 2001, Austin celebrated the grand opening of the James D. Pfluger Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge, creating a safe and scenic connection between the north and south shores of Lady Bird Lake along the Ann & Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail.

The bridge is named in honor of Austin architect James D. Pfluger, a member of the original Town Lake Beautification Committee who helped design key portions of the Butler Trail and champion public access to the lake.

What's changed in 25 years? 🤔
⭐️ In 2011, The Trail Conservancy worked with to enhance the northshore Pfluger Circle with stunning native plants.
⭐️ TTC regularly hosts volunteer days on the bridge. With the help of our volunteers, we take care of the plants inside Pfluger Circle and in the plant beds on the bridge.
⭐️ In 2026, installed "Sunclipse," a temporary piece of art part of TTC's TEMPO on the Trail program.

The Moonlight Margarita Run is rain or shine. We are currently planning to continue with the run as scheduled.

In the event that lightning occurs near the site, we will defer to City policy and communicate any necessary delays at that time.
