Austin Boxer Rescue We serve the entire state of Texas. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to saving Boxer dogs from the entire state of Texas.

Austin Boxer Rescue is a non-profit organization made up entirely of volunteers who are dedicated to removing dogs from bad situations and placing them into loving permanent homes. Our mission: To balance the health, safety, and welfare needs of canines in the state of Texas by providing nourishment and a safe environment for unwanted, stray, abused, and impounded Boxers. Once placed in new homes they become more than just pets, they become family.

BOXER SPOTLIGHT: RUFUS IV

Rufus IV is an owner surrender looking for a new home.

Hi! My name is Rufus IV! I am a handsome 1.5 year old white boxer boy that is an owner surrender due to being too high energy for the other dogs in the home. I am described as friendly, active, playful, and affectionate! I currently live with two small dogs and don't bother them much but I will take things from them if I want to and need to be fed alone because I am stingy with my food. It is uncertain if I have ever lived with a cat and if I am feline friendly. There are no kids in my home but my owner's 10 year old grandson visits every weekend and I am good with him! I am crate trained but will need assistance learning house training manners. At night I sleep on the human's bed and if they must be away, I am fine in my crate. If I am in my crate while the human is home, I will howl for about 30 minutes because I want to be where the people are! If food is left out or the trash is where I can get to it, I will help myself so food should be stored off the counter and trash cans in a closed off area. When outside I do not dig or attempt to jump kiddie gates/fences, but I am strong and have pushed a gate open. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, chewing toys, getting a lot of affection, and being with the humans! BOXER SPOTLIGHT: RAYVN

Ravyn is an owner surrender looking for a new home.

Hi! My name is Rayvn! I am a beautiful 4 year old boxer girl that is an owner surrender due to not getting along with the other dog in the home. I am described as friendly, smart, protective, playful, affectionate, and nervous! I am jealous and anxious of other dogs so I need to be the only dog in the home. I have lived with a cat and love the kitties! Due to me being anxious, the vet advised I not live with small children. I am house trained, crate trained, know basic commands, am food motivated, and due to allergies I eat Science Diet Stomach and Skin sensitivity. I do not like salmon or beef dog food but if you give me a piece of those in human food form, I take it with no issue! At night I sleep on my bed at the foot of the human bed and my owner is home most of the day so I'm rarely alone. I am fearful when there are alot of people in the home but do ok if there are no other dogs and if I can stay close to my person. When outside I have good behaviour and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates, but my current backyard is built into a hill so I sometimes find a way to go explore but don't leave the gated area. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, balls, squeaker toys, people, food, play time, napping, short walks, cuddling, snuggling under the blankets, covered up before bed especially if a fan is on, playing fetch, traveling with the humans, and getting attention! My owner says I am a "truly incredible dog that is deeply loving and incredibly in tune with your emotions" and I agree! Memorial - Bandit "B" Santillo

I am writing to share the heartbreaking news that Bandit "B" Santillo passed away on June 17, 2026, due to complications during a scheduled surgery.

We adopted Bandit from ABR on February 3, 2016, shortly after losing our first boxer, Jax. Over the last 11 years, Bandit became my best friend and my constant shadow. He was a goofy, sweet, and loving pup who helped me through an incredibly difficult period involving my own health challenges and the loss of Jax.

I will deeply miss our daily routines, especially our evening ritual where he would patiently wait for his special treat plate while I prepared dinner. He was such a good boy and truly saved me in ways I can't fully describe. While his loss is devastating, I feel blessed for the time we had together and will cherish our memories forever. Sleep well my sweet boy.

Jar Jar is an owner surrender looking for a new home.

Hi! My name is Jar Jar! I am a 1 year old handsome fawn boy that is an owner surrender due to my family living in an apartment, family growing, and I am needing more space to play and run around. I am described as friendly, active, smart, playful, and affectionate! I currently live with a Schnauzer and we do not always get along, so a proper meet and greet would be encouraged. I have never lived with a cat but I have had exposure to them and am fine. There are no children in my home so a proper introduction to them would be needed. I love greeting new people by jumping on them and not wanting to stop but I mean no harm. I am house trained, crate trained, and know basic commands! When I am let out of my kennel I jump very high and will nip out of excitement. At night I sleep next to the human's bed and if they must be away, I am anxious. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, making squishy toys magically explode, chewing on bones, and attention! Esme is an owner surrender looking for a new home.

Hi! My name is Esme! I am a beautiful 1.5 year old female that is an owner surrender due to my current caretaker being unable to provide me with the attention and time that I need. I am described as friendly, active, and playful! I do not live with other dogs but it is said that I am dog friendly. I have not been around children or cats so it is unsure if I am kid or cat friendly. I am crate trained and will need help with house training in my forever home. At night I sleep in my crate and if the humans must be away I do not like to be alone but I do not fight or cry to get out of the crate. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, chewing on bones and toys, baths, playing fetch with balls, and going on walks! When I go for walks, I do tend to pull on the leash but am getting better! Duke X is an owner surrender looking for a new home.

Hi! My name is Duke X! I am a handsome 3 year old handsome fawn boy that is an owner surrender due to not getting along with the other dogs in the home and needs to be an only dog. I am described as active, smart, protective, noisy, playful, affectionate, and obedient! I am said to live with other dogs and do not get along with them. I have never lived with a cat so it is uncertain if I am feline friendly. I currently live with two kids (ages 9 and 16 years) and am said to get along well with them. If I do not know someone I will bark loudly and am reactive. If the humans simply ignore me, I calm down and will warm up after a bit and having a slow introduction in a kennel. I am house trained, crate trained, and know basic commands. At night I sleep in a kennel, on a couch, or in the bed. If the humans must be away, I am fine being left alone. When outside I need proper supervision because I am curious what is under the ground and will dig to find out as well as being able to jump kiddie gates/fences. I do not like men but some of my favorite things are riding in the car, playing fetch with my ball, playing with the water hose, and cuddling. My current owner says my ideal home would be one with no other dogs and a female owner. Hi! My name is Rocky XIV! I am a handsome 7 year old brindle boy that is an owner surrender due to my owner not having the time or ability to care for me. I am bonded with my littermate, Bertha, and need to be adopted together which means double the boxer love! I am described as friendly, active, smart, calm, playful, affectionate, and obedient! I live with my littermate and we get along great! I do not live with a cat so it is uncertain if I am feline friendly. BOXER SPOTLIGHT: KANO

Kano is an owner surrender looking for a new home.

Hi! My name is Kano! I am a handsome 8 year old fawn boy that is an owner surrender after my owner passed away and the family I am with is unable to keep me due to another male dog in the home and I not getting along. My current family says I have two small bumps on my back and a large lump on my foot but it doesn't seem to hurt or cause me any difficulty in movement. I am described as active, protective, playful, affectionate, and obedient! I am house trained but have been 'marking' in the kitchen possibly in response to the male dog in the home. I do not get along with the male dog in the home but am friendly and playful with the female boxer in the home so a proper meet and greet would be needed. I am said to be kid friendly, but very rough when playing and can accidentally knock a small child down thinking the child is playing with me. My owner's nieces and nephews (ages 4-16 years) come visit and I am fine with them. I have never lived with a cat so it is uncertain if I am feline friendly. At night I sleep in my bed, on the couch, or in the human's bed. If the humans must be away from the home and I am left alone, I will behave as long as the trash is kept out of reach. When outside I do not attempt to jump fences/gates but I am curious what is under the grass and will dig to find out. I am fearful of fireworks and loud bangs but some of my favorite things are riding in the car, tennis balls, bouncy balls, treats, ear rubs, and getting attention!
