Out of the Blue: Life Happens was created with a very specific family in mind. 🩵💙 Families caring for children with significant and complex disabilities.

Children who may be nonverbal, nonambulatory, use wheelchairs, feeding tubes or other medical equipment, and require an extraordinary level of daily care.

We know how quickly everyday necessities can add up when you are caring for a child with complex needs. That is why our work is centered on providing practical support that can make even one part of that responsibility a little easier.

We see these families. We understand these families. And this is who we are here to support. 🩵💙

September is just around the corner, and it is one of the most meaningful times of the year for Out of the Blue: Life Happens. 🩵💙 Each March and September, we come together to provide Essential CARE supplies to families caring for children with significant and complex disabilities. This September, we’ll also be celebrating the life and legacy of the child who inspired so much of the work we do. Over the next several weeks, we’re going to take you along with us as we prepare, share more about the families we serve, connect with families who may need support, and honor a very special 23rd birthday.

Let's bust a myth today: asking for help does not mean you're failing your child.

In fact, it means the exact opposite. It means you love your child enough to make sure they are surrounded by the best possible support, including a version of you that isn't running completely on empty.

So many caregivers of children with severe disabilities have been conditioned to believe that needing support is a weakness. That the right way to love your child is to handle everything yourself, quietly, without complaint.

But that belief is not just wrong, and it leads to burnout, isolation, and families suffering in silence when there is help available.

Out of the Blue: Life Happens wants to shatter that belief. We exist to make getting help feel as natural and uncomplicated as possible. Because you deserve support.
