Update: he found his Forever Home. ❤️
Our newest Aby rescue had quite a difficult time before reaching us. He was found by Broward County Animal Control wandering the streets of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. They labeled him as unadoptable. Claire Forrest, one of our fosters in Florida, tells the story of what happened:
"Sometimes things just turn out right. I was recently involved with rescuing a four-year old, adult male Abyssinian from a shelter that would have euthanized him as they deemed him unadoptable. In order to rescue a cat who is labeled unadoptable you have to be a rescue that has been approved to handle such things. This is not an easy thing to do and requires more than most individuals can accomplish. Members of a few Abyssinian rescue groups gathered their resources and at the last minute found a qualified rescue who was willing to put their stamp of approval on the rescue and named me as the pick up person since I lived the closest to this shelter. Phew! What a relief! Man it feels good to save a life. Ann & Bill, who provide an excellent foster home with absolutely amazing sensitivity to each cats needs, drove for hours to pick him up from my house (My feline family is over capacity). After a short time with them, it was obvious that he had been misdiagnosed by the shelter staff. He is sweet, adorable and loves to be petted! He is so awesome Ann and Bill are thinking of keeping him as a permanent member of their family. I feel a tightness in my throat when I think of how close this wonderful, sweet little guy, with not name just a number, came to being ended. I named him Cougar. Big, huge kudos to so many who did so much to accomplish this heart-warming victory!!!" - with Kristen Wookey, Ann Williams, Paula Eifler, Lori Piper, and Cat Crusade Adoption
