Update: Olivia was placed in a loving home.

We recently picked up Olivia from a nearby county shelter when they emailed us about her. She is half Abyssinian and half Bengal. She came with a Feline Leukemia and FIV negative test and recent vaccinations, including rabies. We took her to our local veterinarian for a full senior panel to make sure all was well with her. It came back that she is in excellent health, and all values are normal!
She has a new home approved and waiting for her. We are waiting for a transporter to be available to take her to her new home. Olivia is our 77th rescue!

UPDATE: Renamed Roscoe and doing wonderfully in his new home! ❤️

Poor Cinder was found wandering the Tampa streets, with no microchip, and was taken to Animal Control (kill shelter). Our little volunteer group is taking him in tomorrow morning. We will need some help taking care of him. He was dehydrated (got fluids) and may need more.

We really need to assess him to see what he needs. That costs around $300. If you can help with the cost, we would really appreciate it. Please send donations to [email protected] through PayPal. Cinder thanks you! ❤️

We will update you all here on what we find and how he is. Thanks again, Northeast Abyssinian and Somali Rescue - NEAR for your help coordinating!

Update: Bella is doing well in her new home. ❤️

Bella is a sweet, beautiful blue spayed Abyssinian girl about 6 years old. She didn't like the neighbor cat and had problems because of it. She has been retrained to use the litter box and is currently living with some older kittens quite happily. She is now ready to go to her new home! PM me Susan Graham if you are interested in her. Or you can email [email protected]

Update: he found his Forever Home. ❤️

Our newest Aby rescue had quite a difficult time before reaching us. He was found by Broward County Animal Control wandering the streets of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. They labeled him as unadoptable. Claire Forrest, one of our fosters in Florida, tells the story of what happened:
"Sometimes things just turn out right. I was recently involved with rescuing a four-year old, adult male Abyssinian from a shelter that would have euthanized him as they deemed him unadoptable. In order to rescue a cat who is labeled unadoptable you have to be a rescue that has been approved to handle such things. This is not an easy thing to do and requires more than most individuals can accomplish. Members of a few Abyssinian rescue groups gathered their resources and at the last minute found a qualified rescue who was willing to put their stamp of approval on the rescue and named me as the pick up person since I lived the closest to this shelter. Phew! What a relief! Man it feels good to save a life. Ann & Bill, who provide an excellent foster home with absolutely amazing sensitivity to each cats needs, drove for hours to pick him up from my house (My feline family is over capacity). After a short time with them, it was obvious that he had been misdiagnosed by the shelter staff. He is sweet, adorable and loves to be petted! He is so awesome Ann and Bill are thinking of keeping him as a permanent member of their family. I feel a tightness in my throat when I think of how close this wonderful, sweet little guy, with not name just a number, came to being ended. I named him Cougar. Big, huge kudos to so many who did so much to accomplish this heart-warming victory!!!" - with Kristen Wookey, Ann Williams, Paula Eifler, Lori Piper, and Cat Crusade Adoption

Countdown to Kitten Adoption Day! Kitten #5 is Toby! He is a very friendly, sweet boy who loves his jingle ball. He bats it around the room, then picks it up in his mouth and trots around with it proudly, then bats it around again, until it's time to eat. :)

Countdown to Kitten Adoption Day! Kitten #6 is Optimus Prime! He is a very friendly, super playful boy. He walked right up to my husband John as a tiny 3 week old kitten and wanted to play! He still does that with everybody he meets. :)
