Atlanta, we need you in the room!

On Monday, August 3rd, Councilmember Kelsea Bond is introducing updated pregnancy decriminalization legislation at city hall, and the council will vote. Amplify has been working to strengthen the city's existing decrim protections, including new safeguards against surveillance.

Meet us at city hall at noon to sign up for public comment. Let's pack the room and make it clear: surveillance has no place in reproductive justice.

Join the Decrim Action Team TODAY at 6PM (virtual) as we break down pregnancy criminalization, surveillance, and privacy, and what we can do about it.

This is for all RJ advocates who want to take action to stop the surveillance and criminalization of pregnant people in Georgia and secure our bodily autonomy. Collective action is the only way to win our collective liberation.

When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade four years ago, they increased the risk of prosecution to pregnant folks and those who care for them, in states across the country. Georgia is no exception.

Now, around the South, state lawmakers are making a coordinated effort to undo important voting rights protections. These things are connected. The people of Georgia have been fighting back because voting rights affect everything, and what happens here doesn't stay here. State voting maps shape who goes to the state legislature, and to Congress — gaining the power to determine what rights pregnant people have anywhere in this country.

The majority of Georgians want reproductive freedom. 4 in 5 believe politicians shouldn't interfere in our abortion decisions. That's not a fringe position. That's Georgia.

Today we continue organizing Beyond Roe: we're not looking back at what Roe promised—which wasn’t enough to ensure access for our communities. We're building what comes next.

Four years after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Georgia's six-week abortion ban is still harming pregnant people — even when the law says they qualify for an “exception” to get legal care.

Our new research with RISE at Emory confirms what many already knew: the exceptions don't work. Patients with life-threatening conditions had to wait until they were close enough to death for providers to act. Survivors of assault faced additional barriers just to access care. People experiencing pregnancy loss were turned away.
And underneath all of it, one thing drives every delay and denial: the threat of criminalization. When providers fear prosecution, patients pay the price.
What this tells us: there is no safe way to separate abortion care from the rest of pregnancy care.

We don't need better exceptions to a dangerous ban. We need the Reproductive Freedom Act.Read the full report via Link in Bio
