🦆 MEET THE COMMITTEE | JACQUELINE BELCHER – YOUTH & EDUCATION CHAIR
Next up in our Meet the Committee series is Jacqueline Belcher, our Youth & Education Chair!
Jacqueline may be one of the newer faces on our State Committee, but in just one year with Ducks Unlimited, she has found a community and a mission that mean a great deal to her.
She originally got involved because she wanted to learn more about wetland conservation and find a way to be part of something bigger than herself. What she found was not only an opportunity to learn, but a group of people she genuinely enjoys being around.
“Every time I am with the DU community, I walk away feeling lighter and having had an amazing time of fellowship.”
One of Jacqueline’s favorite memories so far was working her first DU banquet as a volunteer. Experiencing an event from the other side — talking with guests, helping create a great atmosphere and seeing everything come together — gave her a whole new appreciation for the people who make these events happen.
Now, as Youth & Education Chair, Jacqueline is focused on helping carry DU’s mission forward. A big part of her role is connecting with young people and helping the next generation understand why caring for wetlands, wildlife and the land matters. After all, they are the ones who will inherit both the responsibility and the opportunity to protect them.
And for someone who has only been involved for a year, Jacqueline already has some pretty simple advice for anyone considering volunteering:
“Do it! It is some of the most fun and the deepest connections you will make.”
🦆 Favorite Duck: Blue-winged Teal
🐴 Outside of DU: Horses and showing
🌿 Perfect Day Outdoors: In the garden, on the back of a horse or traveling somewhere new to explore
Jacqueline joined DU looking for a place to learn, contribute and connect with others who cared about conservation. Now, she’s helping make sure the next generation has the opportunity to find that same connection — and develop an appreciation for the land and wildlife they’ll one day be responsible for protecting.
We’re excited to have Jacqueline helping lead the way for Georgia DU’s youth and education efforts!
