"There's Lots to See in Georgia" provides a history of our state's historic sites, the process by which they were preserved and restored, and information you can use when visiting the sites. Jennifer Dickey is a retired professor of history and retired coordinator of the museums and the history and public programs at Kennesaw State University. This house was located at 2702 Peachtree Road and was an English manor house, built by an architect for J. Epps Brown. He was chairman of the board of directors of Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company. He and his wife had two sons, J. Epps Jr. and John Stokes.

Built in 1928, the Canton Apartments (now Crestwood) is a three story, brick English Renaissance style apartment building. Gardner Spencer and Associates designed this apartment building to follow a horizontal axis appearing more like an exclusive single-family residence than garden-style apartment complexes that were popular during the period. The project, along with other apartment buildings nearby, served as a buffer between the large residences in Buckhead’s affluent neighborhoods and the rapid commercialization along Peachtree Road. The Canton Apartments is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
