Retiring Atlanta City Councilmember Howard Shook leaves a tremendous legacy of progress in Buckhead. In recognition of the invaluable role he has played on the BCID board and the strong working relationship he has helped us forge with the City of Atlanta, last week executive director Jim Durrett announced that the Wieuca Road-Phipps Boulevard Roundabout will be named in Howard Shook’s honor. Thank you, Howard, for over two decades of dedication to our community.

We’re proud to share that Katharine Kelley -- an Atlanta-based urban development expert and civic leader -- has been named the next CEO of the Buckhead Coalition and Buckhead Community Improvement District.

A Buckhead native and resident, Katharine brings more than 30 years of experience in innovative urban development and community leadership. Her visionary approach and deep local roots position her perfectly to advance Buckhead’s growth and role within the City of Atlanta and broader region.

Katharine will officially step into the role in January 2026, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome her as the new leader of both organizations.

Please join us in congratulating her on this new role!
