After a broad national search, we’ve named Lauren Koontz our next president and CEO, effective December 1.

Our Board, with support from BoardWalk Consulting, looked nationally while placing deliberate emphasis on leaders with a deep record of impact in metro Atlanta and respect for the region’s challenges and opportunities.

The search drew on input from Board members, Foundation staff, donors and community partners, and candidates were evaluated on leadership, community relationships, philanthropic and donor experience, organizational impact and the ability to collaborate effectively at scale.

Lauren brings that experience, along with three decades of relationships across Greater Atlanta.

She knows how to bring donors, nonprofits, community groups, businesses, and government together around common goals.

As search committee chair Ryan Wilson said: “This is an important time for philanthropy to be a galvanizing force for good. We want more families and companies to turn to the Foundation as both a trusted home for their giving and a partner in scaling their impact.”

Student loan relief can create opportunities far beyond a zero balance.

Since 2023, the Community Foundation’s Student Loan Repayment Program has erased nearly $869,000 in student loan debt for 31 Atlanta residents—helping recipients pay down other debts, cover everyday essentials, build emergency savings, pay for housing and support their families.

This year, funding is available for just 15 new repayment requests, while more than 175 completed applications have already been received.

With more support, more debt can disappear—and more Atlantans can move toward long-term financial security.

We’re looking for an evaluation partner.

The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta is seeking a consultant to develop an evaluation framework for our work supporting metro Atlanta nonprofits affected by changes in federal funding and policy.

We’re particularly interested in consultants with experience in qualitative evaluation and the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors.
