FHAN Inc.’s “Legacy to Leverage” Series 1: Antebellum-Era / Reconstruction HBCUs Policy Resolution Debate is a virtual, solutions-driven policy competition designed to convene students, faculty, and alumni in structured debate on major issues affecting the present and future of Black higher education.
The challenge centers the historical legacy and contemporary significance of Antebellum-Era / Reconstruction HBCUs as sites of intellectual leadership, civic formation, policy innovation, and institutional resilience. Participating teams will respond to one of the official resolutions by conducting interdisciplinary research and developing a written and delivering an oral policy proposal grounded in historical understanding and present-day feasibility.
The event is designed to promote intergenerational collaboration, evidence-based advocacy, and real-time policy reasoning. Teams will present original policy responses in a live virtual setting and will be evaluated by judges, opposing teams, and virtual audience participants through an AGT-managed Menti meter scoring process.
