August was busy in the best way, and we had the pleasure of catering two majorly fun events for our students:

🥁 Band Camp — fueling our musicians for a week of rehearsals, rhythm, and teamwork!

📚 Freshman Orientation — welcoming our newest students to the Andover community with some good food and good vibes!

We love being able to support our students beyond the school day. 💙🍎

We’re back!!

🚂🍎 All aboard the Golden Apple Express!

Today, after reviewing the basics and handing out tickets for our Golden Apple Express, our amazing Food Service staff were treated to a delicious cooking demonstration by Project Bread!

We tasted our way through some seriously flavorful creations:

🫓 Birria Pork Quesadilla
🌱 Cilantro Sauce
🍛 Shawarma Chicken
🍴 Spicy Chicken Flatbread (pictured)
🌮 Soy Ginger Chicken Tacos

So many incredible smells, flavors, and ideas packed into one afternoon! 👩‍🍳✨

And this is just the beginning…

🌱A year long project in a minute and a half. 🥗

The APS food services department turned the empty greenhouse on the rooftop at West Elementary into a functional space for learning and growing using funds from a MAFresh Grant.

The Massachusetts FRESH (Farming Reinforces Education and Student Health) grant is a state-funded initiative through Massachusetts Farm to School that awards moneys to schools and early education centers to expand farm-to-school initiatives, local food purchasing, and food literacy.

Through this project, we not only fostered students’ connection to their food, but we created an amazing space for STEM activities and life skill development. 🌱

Sending out a huge THANKS to all our partners, including the amazing students at WEL for helping to plant microgreens and lettuce!

Kitchen leads were asked to take their excess inventory and get creative for June's Chef's Choices. We had some great submissions but there can only be one winner.
