If all we wanted was martial arts instruction, most of us could find that close to home.

We gather for something more.

We train together. We exchange ideas. We challenge one another. But we also pray together, encourage one another, build friendships and remind ourselves why we started doing this in the first place.

The Christian Black Belt Association exists to connect people who share two important parts of their lives:

A love for martial arts and a love for Jesus Christ.

Styles may bring us onto the mat.

Christ is what makes us family.

A black belt was never supposed to mean, “I have arrived.”

If anything, the longer we train, the more we realize how much there is still to learn.

One of the things we value most about gathering together as Christian martial artists is the opportunity to become students again—to step outside our own schools, systems and routines and learn from people whose experience may be very different from our own.

Sometimes that means learning from someone with decades more experience.

Sometimes it means discovering that someone from an entirely different martial arts tradition has something valuable to teach us.

Humility makes us better martial artists. More importantly, it makes us better followers of Christ.

Never stop learning. Never become too "accomplished" to be taught.

- Tag a martial artist who has taught you something valuable along the way.

Different schools. Different systems. One Lord.

Walk into a CBBA Gathering and you'll see something you don't always see in the martial arts world.

Different uniforms. Different lineages. Different methods of training. Different opinions about how things ought to be done.

And then we train together.

Because the Christian Black Belt Association was never intended to create one more martial arts style. It exists to bring Christian martial artists together—to encourage one another, learn from one another, build relationships, and use the martial arts as a means of serving a much greater purpose.

We don't have to practice the same system to belong to the same family.
