💔 A hard week for our rescue.
Over the past week, we’ve had several cats returned to us. Sadly, these returns were not because of anything the cats did wrong. In one case, the return was due to an unfortunate circumstance completely out of the adopter’s control, and we completely understand situations like that. Life happens.
We understand that not every return can be prevented, but please think through every scenario before adopting. Housing, finances, work, relationships, other pets, children, travel, and unexpected expenses can all change. Pets are a lifelong commitment, and being a responsible, reliable adopter means being prepared to care for them through life’s changes.
We pride ourselves on always taking our animals back if an adoption doesn’t work out, whether it’s been days, months, or years. We are committed to these animals for life, just as we hope their adopters will be. These cats were adopted while we were taking in cats displaced by the flooding, and with several now back in our care, we are once again over capacity and struggling to make room for animals who need us.
Right now, one of the biggest ways you can help is by fostering or adopting! We always need cat fosters, and every adoption opens up space for another animal in need.
