Support Larry's Legacy at Anderson Speedway June 28 and July 4! Larry Van Ness spent nearly 20 years collecting can tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana (RMH). He collected, hand-counted, and donated 26 1/2 million can tabs to RMH before he was struck by a vehicle on October 2, 2022 and sadly passed away on October 24, 2022 at the age of 75. While Larry was alive, he rallied community support and was greatly loved by many for his kindness, humor, compassion, and generosity. When he passed, the communities of Madison County, IN wished to continue Larry's mission in collecting can tabs for RMH. In addition, the communities have expressed wanting to honor Larry's life by erecting a statue and establishing other forms of commemoration. While Larry was alive, he had special people helping him who he called his Angels. One Angel, Rachel Lee Landers, who was his primary caregiver, has established a committee of people who operate under the Larry's Legacy name to work on projects to preserve the legacy Larry left, such as continuing and growing the can tab collection efforts, setting in motion commemorative efforts such as having a statue of Larry made, having a wall mural painted, organizing events to raise awareness and to raise funds for such projects, and so much more! Our goal for Larry's Legacy is to continue benefitting Ronald McDonald House with can tab donations and to benefit our local communities with assistance for the needy through the endowment that has been created in Larry's memory through the Madison County Community Foundation, as well as honoring Larry's memory in the ways in which the communities wish. Please join us in these efforts by contributing in any way you are able, whether it be through can tab donations, whole can donations, monetary donations, and/or volunteering to help! If you are a business owner and wish for your business to be inlcuded on the can tab drop-off location list in Madison and surrounding counties, please send a private message with that request.
